Can’t compare the whole league to Brandon Aubrey. Dudes a freak of nature

93% all time over 50 yards
36 straight FGs to start his career
15 FGs over 50 in one year, twice
He’s made a 66,65, and two 64s in his career(all would have cleared 70)

Why do we need to discourage great kicking?

Should we make the field longer because receivers are so fast now?

Nothing needs to be done. Kickers who can make 60+ yards are just that good.

You are forgetting the new K ball rules. A lot of punting and FG records will fall this year.

You're not discouraging great kicking but readjusting the game strategy to account for vastly improved skills and resetting the "feel" back to how it was originally intended.

The risk/reward dynamic and intended scoring frequency was established against much poorer kicking ability.

Sports tinker with rules all the time, the goalposts in college football used to be much wider and were narrowed to match the NFL in the 80s. They also used to allow ts.

people would much rather watch long FGs than punts. Also, a 60 yard FG miss can either be returned or give the other team the ball at midfield.

This.

it should be the opposite. Reward the offense for getting as close to the EZ as possible.

Huh? Literally all kickers make extra points.
