One name I keep hearing over and over again for these NFL openings- Marvin Lewis. He's very well respected around the NFL and deserves another shot.

I probably wouldn’t hire him but if I’m picking a retread he wouldn’t be a bad choice given what he was able to accomplish in Cincy for that long

If he gets another shot and does well the nfl needs to force a sell of the bengals stat.

They should anyway but that should force the issue

Considering all the guys who get a second chance, Lewis would make sense. Hearing everything people say about the Bengals organization makes it seem like a winning record there is a real accomplishment.

I'd also throw out Jim Caldwell. 62-50 career record. Winning record in both Detroit and Indy. He also was doomed the one year in Indianapolis when Peyton went down and they finished 2-14. Without those extremely unfortunate circumstances, he's probably sitting at 68-44 or something for his career.

maybe as a coordinator but as HC he has shown to be unqualified and an abysmal failure

Well that’s simply false

Being above .500 and making the playoffs 7 times with the bengals is not an abysmal failure

Wasn't an abysmal failure, but 16 seasons without a post season win isn't good.

I think people underestimate how big of a handicap that organization operates under compared to the rest of the league.

is it not in the league's best interest for owners to actually try to win games on occasion? one or two down years is one thing but it's pretty well documented the bengals owner couldnt give two fricks about winning.

Brian Billick won a SB with the Ravens & never got a 2nd chance. Jim Fassell was COY & disappeared. I would think that most NFL HC don't get a 2nd chance( excluding short interims) .

Your career is at the whim of NFL owners like Jerry Jones, Mike Brown,etc...... Its a strange thing who gets a 2nd chance & who doesn't. NFL coaching opportunities isn't entirely merit based unfortunately.

right, but NFL owners are a fraternity that sticks together... you take Mike Brown’s team today, you gonna take Jerry Jones or Gayle Benson’s tomorrow?

Those 2 guys you mentioned were always considered flash in the pan. It goes beyond that.

Why not, other keep getting employed, why not he.

While majority of it was him, coaching for Brown family is horrible. They are biggest cheap skates in NFL. And don't care if they win or not, that TV money is rolling in.

I think I’d hire Joe Brady if I’m taking a shot. From what I’ve heard, the guy is next level good. Sean McVay good, which is saying something and the ages are similar. I’d go for it if I were searching.

Lewis would be a solid choice. He led the Bengals to playoff spots, just couldn’t win a playoff game.
