I like Campbell but I think they'd aim bigger before settling on him. There is a very small list of coaches who would turn that job down if offered.
I would guess that Bob Stoops would be at the top of their list.

Yes exactly. He’s terrible. No one should even consider him. He fine where he is at Iowa state. Nothing to see here.

Not Ohio States fault but they missed out on Herman and Chip Kelly. Everyone besides Saban and Dabo is a step down from Urbs.
Matt is the best fit for Ohio State. He is from the state. Has that toughness about him that Tressell brought to the program. He also built Iowa State into a respectable program . He built Iowa State into a winner. Only two other coaches have done that and those are hall of fame coaches.
What other great coach came from Iowa State? Earl Bruce!

Stoops might top their list, but I think he's serious about being done. After him, who else is bigger that would be realistically available?
Tressel was plucked from Youngstown State and Urban was unemployed. Hell, Earle Bruce was hired from Iowa State. Clearly, Ohio State doesn't need to go scorched earth on coaching hires.

Stoops' sons are freshman on the football team at OU. The entire point of him retiring was to take time and enjoy his family.
There is not an iceberg's chance in hell that he ends up coaching again any time soon.

I can't imagine they'll hire their full time HC until after the season. If Meyer gets fired (which I don't think he will), I think Schiano coaches this season and they will conduct a search after the season is over.
