Greatest RB performance I’ve seen in Tiger Stadium in person

My recollection is that he broke one long run early out of the wildcat formation, but was mostly contained the rest of the game. The problem was he touched the ball nearly every play, and was a threat to go the distance each time, so the entire defense focused on him whether he was at RB or a wildcat QB.

Peyton Hillis and Felix Jones were the ones to break big plays and take advantage of the focus on McFadden as the game progressed.

To a point, but McFadden did run for 200+, 3 scores, and had a 20+ yd passing touchdown with the entire defense focused on him. He had more yards rushing than Hester, Williams, Scott, and Flynn combined on 50% less carries, and a higher QBR than Flynn who had a pretty good game in his own right.

Hillis and Jones had good games, but McFadden was getting the ball every play and still put up the numbers against the National Champions. Taking anything away from that kid that night is just ridiculous.

Running the wing T with them in NCAA was a cheat code.

Could’ve done without all those LSU highlights there.

I’d watch a doc just on the 2006 team.

He had great patience and the speed to hit a hole faster than most any running back I can recall.

Larry Munson would agree.

Obligatory fuk Steve Spurrier as well...who intentionally left McFadden off his Heisman ballot completely after this:

I mean, McFadden did go for 321 yards and 1 TD (plus 1 passing TD).

...but exactly 1 week later Tebow had 304 yards passing, 120 yards rushing and 7 total TDs vs us. We may have won and lost McFadden's Heisman in a matter of 7 days.

McFadden could've probably done more but Felix Jones also tore us up that game as has already been touched on.

Either way, we were all over those Heisman highlights.

Before that game I told my brother McFadden was gonna run for 200 yards against the Tigers. He replied “Hell, I’ll give him 200, I just don’t want him to get 300.”

The Underdog
He was a consensus 5 star and probably the best player on the field every game of his college career.

I miss that era when you had bell cow running backs. Cadillac Williams, Shaun Alexander, Deuce McAllister etc. Leonard Fournette might be the last one cut from that cloth that comes to mind.

IMO, McFadden got the main pub regarding that 07 game in Tiger Stadium, but Hillis was the one that had the absolute daggers in that game.

And I watched Guice, Fournette, etc
It’s definitely up there.

So is Kenny Irons’ performance in 2005. 218 yards at 8.1 a pop and a TD.

Also noteworthy… Darren McFadden’s statline vs Auburn in 2007? 17 carries for 43 yards.

That defense was nasty.
