4 positive tests were from vaccinated players.
This is what just blows my mind. So fricking stupid
Makes you wonder how the NCAA determined if each player in the tournament was vax’d or not. Did each team “self-report” their numbers? Or did every single player have to show their vax card on site in Omaha?

quote:I understand this is the rule. But do you not see how fricking absurd it is that the guys who tested were vaccinated?
Get vaccinated and no testing
That's exhibit A that the rule is fricking stupid.

I was all for the covid bull shite when it still kind of made sense/and we didn't know much. But this is fricking absurd. Why doesn't common sense ever prevail in these situations

Because the government is involved.

You asked for “safety” and it was given to you.
This is what everyone wanted.

More like a year ago, which is a lifetime in being able to gather data and evolve.
Being overly cautious (or to use my new favorite phrase I learned in the past year, out of an abundance of caution) absent of information was certainly misguided, but reasonably defensible. This one now just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

And timeline is largely irrelevant really.
We gave the government the unbridled power to do this, resulting in these institutions taking that stance and running with it, and there is no one to blame but us.
Again, this is EXACTLY what everyone demanded.

I’m reminded of the scene from V for Vendetta when V addresses the British people for how they gave their government unconstrained power in response to a pandemic, inasmuch as our COVID response was carried out by the government. In general though, initial fear robbed people of common sense and we will be grappling with the repercussions of that for a long time.
quote:
And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor…
