Some of these deals have been retarded even with the new cap numbers.
Looking at percentage of cap, you have some really really terrible deals being made.

Watching mike Conley make $350,000 in 35 minutes a night is disgusting to me and I'm as big a man of free enterprise as exists.

You ain't lying. But everyone is giving them out
Think Harden is playing the Nash role next year which, if he buys in, is a great role for him.

The percentages you using are for this year only. When the cap goes up again next year those %s Obvi fall back in line.

Ryno's number is over 21% of the cap for this year.
~19% for the remainder of his contract.

Are sports worth that to everyone? Not me if there's a big game I'll go to a bar or something, can't imagine too many others disagree
I cut the cord for 2 years. Everything about it was fantastic... Except for the strain it put on live sports and especially without DVR.
I got cable again and pay a monthly bill, in essence, only for live sports.

you know if you want you can ask someone with att uverse to give you there login info and you can just get an apple tv with the watch ESPN app and watch everything on ESPN and ABC for free right? Its just like netflix you can have multiple users on 1 account.
Im just saying the sheer number of people cutting cable in the next decade is something nobody is accounting for in their projections and its going to throw a wrench into all these mega TV deals being signed for the year 2023 and beyond like this 9 year deal the NBA signed
We're in the early stages of this rollout
or you can get a jailbroken amazon firestick with KODI for $65 and watch every movie in the theatres and every sports game everywhere for free.....this is what I did

Still didn't help with DVR. I can watch any basketball or football game in about an hour with DVR. It saves me so much time, easily worth the monthly expense for my sensibilities.

There ya go $69 and you get every movie in theatres, tons of tv shows, and every sports game LIVE for free....based on how fast an internet connection you have you can choose between 1080p,HD,or SD streaming
KODI is a helluva app
If you still pay for cable in this day in age you're just wasting money

I've had Kodi for years. It's no substitute for live HD games w/DVR.

Are they in 720p or higher with absolutely no buffering, stuttering, framerate drops, pixelation, etlc?

You think banks didn't think about the consequences of all those bad mortgages they were writing left and write in 2005? They sure did in 2008
things like KODI will destroy cable over the long run, I just showed you how to never go to a movie theatre again and watch whatever sports game you want in high def for a 1 time $69 charge
dont fight the future

So it depends on your internet. In miami I have this company called webpass that google fiber just bought I have 400 up/400 down internet for $600/year and its insane so when you stream an event you are given the choice or 1080p/hd/or sd
In houston my internet isnt quite as fast so its still good but there's occasional lag bc ATT is a POS

So basically you're saying it significantly less reliable than cable if you don't have fiber.
Wake me up when it is.

it works fine in houston on ATT, just an occasional lag, it streams just fine. Its just not seamless like it is in miami. So you'd rather pay for att uverse when KODI lets you watch every single sporting event? It even lets you watch pay per view stuff free. Hey its your money not mine, all I was stating was with things like that out there, people are cutting cords to cable left and right. The revenue streams the NBA is projecting a decade from now in this new deal.....I hope they hit it.

you have to realize that something like kodi is really only a 100% replacement if you live in a large metropolitan city that has serious internet available. if you live in the boonies and can only get att uverse where they cap it then no you're not going to have seamless live video streaming with no drops and crystal clear definition ]
not only that most companies like ATT / uverse are caping their connections now you can only get 650gb a month with att uverse if you don't have directv package
i have a 120 inch screen projector and a seirous audio system i'll pay 110 a month for my directv package to be able to watch hd tv when i want with no hassle i'm not a poor
and why would you not want to go to the movies does anyone here ever get laid lol? i love going to the movies on a friday / saturday night picking up chicks

Im 35 years old Im not looking to get laid at the movies. I actually do like Ipic that keeps you away from the rif raff but at $28/seat its a tad silly to pay it when you can watch whatever at home and not have to
anyways read this about sports revenues and cord cutting its a good piece

we are completely derailing this thread.
but another option for sports with cord cutting is Sling ($20/month) + $5 a month for the sports package (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, etc). Sling plus streaming via KODI and I've got everything I could watch.
My internet is Comcast Houston. 100MB down / 20MB up and we have 0 problems streaming on multiple devices. Plus my bill is a measly $75 compared to the $150/month it was with UVerse.
