I guess moving Kemba will be the next move for Kupchack

Yea, I don't see how they can really go forward with this core. It's doubtful that anyone would want to take on Batum's contract, and Kemba is really the only asset that they have (outside of their 2018 pick). They have to look around and see what they can get for him, IMO.

If bron wants to stay in cleveland, he should call kupchack and make a deal to get Kemba.

That's one of the deals that makes sense for Charlotte. Not sure what they'd want from Cleveland outside of the 8th pick.

Cleveland didn't have a first rounder last year, can they trade their first rounder this year?

Last years pick doesn't matter. As long as they have their 2019 pick they can trade it

So they can trade this years pick as long as they also have next years pick. And they can just do the same thing on and on?

Yea. The Pelicans have made 1 first round pick since the AD/Rivers draft.

Precisely. Once a pick has been used, it no longer affects them and the current year can be used (assuming you still have next year).

Also, teams can also do the whole "swap first round picks". That's what Boston and Brooklyn did and why they got screwed for so long.

Popovich has some Belichick in him. In football it works. In Basketball you need talent.

Tim Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli are the either retired or aging team leaders. We are now seeing Aldridge as the team leader. This is why Portland did not suffer when he left.

Basketball is so personality-driven. The hardass approach definitely works better in football because of the size of the teams. The success of the team isn't as dependent on one or two individuals getting along with the coach (aside from the QB).

Pop can be very abrasive, obviously. Fewer rough edges one on one (which is probably why Kawhi's group didn't want Leonard to meet with Pop one on one if their goal is to leave SA), but he's been blessed with a conga line of star talent that allowed him to coach the way he does. Robinson, Duncan, Parker, Ginobili--the fact that all four of those guys responded well to him allowed the team to create this culture.

Kawhi appeared to be the next in line, but obviously (surprisingly) that wasn't the case.

Atlanta has Cleveland's 2019 first round pick if it falls outside the top 10.

Didn't realize that. So they would have to get back a pick either this year or next. That makes the deadline trade this year that much worse.

I'm sure someone will create one tomorrow. Kind of bogs this thread down from past iterations
