Wouldn't surprise me to see them bump it up $100 million just because Ballmer can. The Sacramento group stilllll hasn't matched and they are scraping pennies trying to do so. The team is worth a lot more in the Seattle area than the Sacramento area.

I agree. Why does this "reek of stern"?

Not saying it is or isn't his behind the scenes doing, but it would seem that a team in Seattle is better for the NBA than a team in Sacramento. Educate me on the reasons stern would want to keep the team in Sacramento over Seattle.

Why would the hornets be moving? Am I missing something? I thought the ticket sales and outlook are positive for NOLA?

Why didn't Stern do this a decade ago when the Grizzlies and Hornets moved? The Grizz were a five-year-old expansion team that was never given the chance to be successful. They struggled with season ticket sales early on but were never given a chance to really gain a following. The Hornets had something like 300 consecutive sellouts in Charlotte but Shinn alienated the city much like he did in NOLA. Stern could've had the same approach there.

They have no fan base in Dallas. I go to games and 30-40% of the fans are wearing the other teams' gear. You can't sustain a franchise with that lack of support.

I became a Stars fan growing up in Dallas in the 90's. When the team was successful, the Stars had one of the longest sellout streaks and consistently ranked in the top 5 for revenue in the NHL.

Fast forward to the mid 2000's, Hicks is hemorrhaging money and begins to neglect the team. The huge amounts of support diminish and you get the situation we have now. Point being, with an active owner this is a very successful NHL franchise and not likely to be moved.

Part of this is stern will try to delay it, retire and then Adam silver will over see a relocation and be the bad guy

Stern wanted Seattle to build a new arena before the Sonics moved. The city wouldn't blink, and he made them pay. Now, he may not sign off on a move back there until the new arena is built.

I've never understood why OKC fans hate Seattle. It's like robbing someone and then being pissed at them for not liking you anymore.

Basically he hates Seattle for how far we went to try to save our team last time. We filed a lawsuit and he went with the threat of "drop it or you will never get a chance again", so our mayor dropped it and played by his rules. Well we came to the point to get a team again and he proved to not follow through with his word. He worked behind the scenes as late as last night trying to strengthen Sacramento's bid. He did no such thing for Seattle. If there isn't a relocation team promised, I don't think Seattle is going to put up with him again and will be taking the scorched earth path.

That right there is why we hate Seattle. You act as though "we" the people of OKC had any hand in moving the Sonics. We didn't. Maybe if you had continued to support your team and built a new arena instead of playing in that shite hole, maybe they'd still be playing in your state.

But instead, now Seattle wants to finally build an arena and then, get this, STEAL A TEAM such as the Kings. You can't make that shite up.

Since when did we blame OKC fans? I think you see strong reactions against OKC fans who gloat in Seattle's face about it, but that's the extent of it. Seattle hates Bennett because he flat out lied to all of the fans.

This is nothing like what Bennett did. Hansen and Ballmer could have a team if they pulled a Bennett and lied about their intentions. The Kings have been for sale for a while and Hansen and Ballmer stepped up to buy them because nobody from Sacramento would. They poured $100 million into this only to have the NBA deny them everything. They were completely honest about their intentions from the very start. And for the record, I don't have any ill will against Sacramento fans (unlike OKC fans towards Seattle for some reason?). I feel bad for them because I know what they are going through. My preference all along would be an expansion team.

I'm not saying anything in this post is false, I'm just trying to see the rationale that stern hates seattle SO much that he'd rather keep a team in a city that just posted the worst attendance figures in the league.

It just seems like a team in Seattle is guaranteed short term success (money wise) whereas that is certainly not the case in Sacramento. Long term success has too many variables to reasonably predict for either city imo.

Why would the other owners want to keep Seattle out?

Like I said in my previous post, educate me. I think Seattle should have an NBA team, and I thought this deal was a lock.

You may not feel that way, but I legitimately have had some heated face to face arguments with Sonics' fans who basically blame all of Oklahoma. Quite asinine.
