I think other rumored deals were in the 2 year 20 mil range, so the deal ends up with roughly the same number, but he's playing one more year. This is probably his last deal, regardless.

I'm upset about the way the Parsons thing went down. We got nothing to show for him. Ariza is a good replacement and Parsons ain't worth that much (yet) but losing someone that talented when you could have kept him for another year really sucks.

You guys really got the shite end of that stick. You can blame the Hornets and Mark Cuban for that. You guys did Parsons a solid by letting him be a free agent early and get his money early, but the Hornets setting the swing man free agent market at 15m really screwed you guys.

Before this off-season I thought Parsons was a solid 10-12 mil player. That went out the window when Charlotte offered Hayward 15m per.

That's why getting Ariza at 8 mil makes it easier to swallow. He's a better defender and 3 point shooter and is 7 million dollars cheaper. Still blows.

Eh, I'm not sold that he's a better three point shooter. He was last season, but that's a small sample. Anyway, he's about half the price, a comparable shooter, and better defensively. Looks like a decent move, but I would have thought y'all would have kept them both and moved one next off season, if it made sense at the time.

yea give me Parsons behind the arc any day.

You dont go from a career 32% 3pt shooter to a 40% guy all of a sudden

i just think he's more like a 34-35% shooter from 3 than a 40% guy. serviceable.

Parsons is a steady 38% guy, who has the room to eclipse the 40% mark imo

All I know is watching Parson's hit 10 straight 3's against the Grizzlies this past season in a game was one of the most absurd things I have ever seen in a basketball game.

eta: How much of the growth in Ariza's 3 pt shooting % be attributed to the growth of John Wall as a player and a distributor?

I said comparable, which I think they are (Parsons slightly better IMO).

Not to throw fuel on the fire, but I'd be kinda pissed at management for letting Parsons go if I were a Rockets fan. Free agency is winding down, and there aren't many relevant players that the Rockets can add this off season.

My main point is that Ariza is a good fit. He shot that for entire season where he wasn't asked to be a primary scorer. Playing with Harden and Dwight isn't going to hurt. He should be around 38% but yeah I'd rather have Chandler if money was not an option. I think he's going to be great in Dallas.

how are they gonna replace the 3pt shooting of Parsons, Lin, & Casspi?

Is Troy Daniels a legit option?

The Houston yesterday were justifying why they should match Mavs offer for Parsons. Now that they didn't match, they're trying to justify that.

They can find some guys that can shoot it pretty easily if I had to guess. Their D-League affiliate is like Morey's test lab and they shoot some absurd number of 3's a game. Their summer league team was the same way.

Their problem is still going to be stopping people.

I'm trying to justify it? Or are you just making a general comment timed poorly?

I think scoring may be a problem. Harden desperately needed a sidekick, and im not sure Ariza is that guy.

Terrance Jones and Beverly I guess. These guys really need to come into their own

Daniels is a legit option. Caspi sucked. Canaan is a better shooter than Lin.

I'm not saying those guys are studs but three point shooting will not be a problem.

All these two year contracts are a sign of the times... Lockout in 2016 looming

Lockout would be in 2017 if it happened.

Salary cap will go up to around 80 mil(15+ mil than now) in 2016 so that explains some of the deals.
