Lakers beat writer John Ireland just now on his ESPN radio show
LINK
quote:

"Two informed insiders have told Charged FM Brooklyn that Carmelo Anthony and Phil Jackson are currently at a stalemate. The Knicks and Lakers are in talks on a sign and trade that would send Pau Gasol to the Knicks, and ship Andrea Bargnani, Tim Hardaway Jr., and a 1st round pick to Los Angeles. Anthony wants the deal made to pair up with Gasol and be in a position to compete this season. Jackson is hesistant in making the deal because he doesn't want to trade Hardaway who he reportedly hasn't been shopping at all. Both don't see eye-to-eye, and word is if Jackson doesn't make the trade Anthony could balk and go to the Chicago Bulls."

Damn forgot about him

Dude must be crushed

No kidding. He was drafted probably thinking he was going to be playing with LeBron, Bosh and Wade and looking forward to a trip to the Finals.

Now he'll be playing with a broken down Wade who's playing out the string on a sweetheart max contract.

Charlotte would be sneaky good with McBob staying. My guy in the Charlotte front office says they're looking at Kirk Heinrich.

oh yeah I agree, I wish he had stayed. and I just saw Woj's tweet that we're working with Heinrich. Not sure if that means they realize Hayward isn't going to happen

quote:

Zach Lowe was saying that McRoberts really loved Charlotte, but he would leave to win championships

Oh yeah, it seemed to be a great relationship between him and Coach Cliff. both enjoyed each other, so it sucked to see him go. Didn't read about him wanting to leave only for championships

I still don't think he'd do business like that to the Heat. that's something the guy who covers the Hornets was talking about a few nights ago when a bunch of fans were asking about this scenario

In the long run I think no Love is the best for the Cavs to have continued success for 6+ years.

These young guys are ballers and without having to sign Love to 20+ mill that leaves them with space over the years to continue to bring in good role players.

Kevin Ding also tweeted that Lakers can't complete the Lin trade unless we renounce Gasol's Bird rights beforehand, which would cause us to lose the ability to S&T him so this could definitely have legs.

I don't see a team of Melo/Amare/Gasol being very competitive, tbh

FYI: Again, Thursday afternoon, Cavs source told @FOXSportsOH: "Andrew Wiggins is not being traded."

I just keep going back to the article. Wiggins is a glaring omission.

No way Wade turns down max money from Heat, right? Nothing left to prove

I sure as heck wouldn't if I were in his shoes.

The guy has three rings, is a definite Hall of Famer, and can play out the string on max money and retire to a do-nothing front office job with the Heat for life.

I wouldn't go anywhere for so much as $1 less.

Me neither but Melo has been hung up on playing with Gasol apparently. I would jump all over this deal if I'm the Lakers.

I agree. But Lebron is in his prime RIGHT NOW, they need to make sure they have the pieces in place to win sooner rather than later - who knows how good Lebron will be at age 35.

You think the Bulls need another broke-down guard?

Yeah that's a nice "local boy comes home" story, but it could definitely go bad given the respective injury histories of Wade and Rose.
