Stephen A. Smith just said on Mike and Mike he thinks Lebron is headed to Cleveland

Wasn't it reported earlier this week tht Gilbert's plane was in Florida when LeBron was? They could have had a secret meeting then, no?

Cleveland hasn't been to the playoffs since LeBron left and Kevin Love has never been. Playoff experience is kind of a big deal. Is Cleveland the best core for LeBron to build with for the next 5 years? Probably so, definitely better than the Heat. But the time horizon on this decision is 2 years, not 5 years.

He HAS to go to Cleveland. The talk about the possibility of going back has gone too far. He has to pick them or look even worse than last time.

I think it's humorous that people think he hasn't met with him one way or another. It's not like he doesn't know who Dan Gilbert is. And the coach? He had Spolestra coaching him these past years, anything is an upgrade at that point

Yeah I agree. If he spurns them again after so much smoke he's going to look like the biggest dick ever and I'll be convinced he has horrible PR people

Sure. I think there is more to it than just roster choices- comfort, trust, etc.
But I don't if we can say they will be title favorites because they've done it before when their big 3 are all in decline- from minimal to massive. If you're going with a super team, your stars better be stars every night. I don't think LeBron can keep playing 38MPG for 82 games and then carry his team to a title. They've played so much the last 4 years and played in such a taxing way. They've been briliant, but it has taken a toll.
Edit- Not sure Cleveland is the best answer either. From Gilbert/FO being insane to Kyrie being more hype than production at this point. I think he stays in Miami because there is no other realistic choice out there. But I don't think he's happy about it.

The fans will be upset, but there will be nobody to blame but themselves. Lebron hasn't said anything.

And in those two years I can't see Miami winning a championship as Wade continues to get worse as a player. It the same core that has been to 4 straight finals, but the 2nd best player has quickly become the third best player and is rapidly declining. If I'm LeBron I wouldn't want to have to play 38 mpg during the regular season. In Cleveland, he has a top 10 player in Love who is entering his prime, and at least a top 20 player in Irving that is headed that way too. To me it's 2 backups who are aging against 2 backups that are not only better, but entering their prime. Of course if they can't get Love it changes things, though I would still pick Cleveland.

LeBron's decision to rejoin Cavs will be announced on his Web site before he leaves for World Cup final in Brazil.

Fresh intel on LeBron James: What Riley said in Hail Mary pitch yesterday (he compared stability of organizations):
quote:
The Decision has been made, even though it hasn’t been made public by the man himself. LeBron James is returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers, a league source tells SheridanHoops.com.
James met with Miami Heat president Pat Riley on Wednesday in Las Vegas to deliver the news, and Riley did his best to try to get James to reconsider, comparing the stability of the Heat organization to the relative instability of the Cavs, who have a meddling owner and have changed general managers and coaches several times in the past few years, according to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The meeting lasted about an hour, and James and his advisors them met for dinner. James’ stance did not change, according to the source, but no public pronouncements were made. An official announcement will eventually be made on www.lebronjames.com, as I first reported Tuesday. The news will become official before James leaves Saturday for the World Cup final in Brazil.

They won't be favorites and likely won't win it all, but they'll make it out of the East and have a shot. If they're smart they'll consider conceding home court advantage and not play Lebron 38 minutes a night.

BTW- I don't see LeBron ever winning a title in Cleveland. I aint even mad though. Dislike both.

I do agree the talk has gone too far, but I dont think he comes back. It will be ugly in Cleveland for the 2nd time. H ecould have sent word to have the media pull back the reigns a bit,but Lebron doesnt care. Im sure he is working with his publicist right now crafting an excuse as to why he didnt knock down the "back to Cleveland" reports
