So no bench, 1 start that is Beta and injury-prone as hell, another star that is aging and injuries could be a problem, and some third star.
That is not a guaranteed conference-winning team in the East, much less in the gauntlet that is the west.
Golden State will not be as dominant as before, but will still be good come playoff time if Klay returns to form.
Denver and Portland may improve with experience. OKC will likely get better as George continues to become an MVP caliber player again.
This won't be a cake walk and Lakers making the playoffs much less the Finals because of LeBron and AD is nowehere near certain.

You had the same reaction when I said the Lakers wouldn't make the playoffs last year

The difficulty here is that the Lakers have to get this right. With LeBron being 35 for the majority of next season, they may not have the cushion year that his previous teams got to get it right.
They at least have a shot to compete now.

I get the finals thing but people really think they might not make the playoffs? What?

Lebron is a bitch. Can’t win unless he has top talent or All Stars around him.

Again, think about the Heat in 2010, their roster outside of the 3 "Max" players were:
Haslem
Chalmers
Anthony
Magloire
James Jones
They then added Miller for $5 million (you aren't getting a Miller-level player for $4.5 Million now).
Let's look at Cleveland when LeBron returned to Cleveland:
3 stars and then these guys remained:
Delavadova
Tristan Thompson
Verajo
On top of that, Cleveland gave up a good bit for Love, but not what the Lakers gave up for AD, had Kyrie on his Rookie deal, and then still had assets to trade for a few good role players.
On top of both of those scenarios, both teams player in the East which has been horrid for that entire time.
This is in a strong Western conference, with 3 full max players, one okay player in Kuzma and nothing else.
On top of that you expect guys to come in for peanuts to live in one of the top two most expensive and taxed states in the country. This isn't Ohio or Florida (no income tax) which bumped up their salaries even more.

If Lebron or AD gets injured, nothing is guaranteed. Nearly every team in the West is improving this season, and while the Warriors will downgrade for most of the season, they will still be a playoff team.
Again, if they get 3 max guys with mediocre bench, you think they make the playoffs with AD as their alpha if Lebron goes down.
The Pelicans will have had a better team around AD outside of Lebron in their past 3 seasons.

I meant winning as in winning the conference not winning record.

Dirk? Kidd was old but still a HOF player.

None. I should have been more clearer on my statement. What I should have said is that Lebron can’t win unless he loads up on top FA talent.

Dirk was it!
He had a bunch of "guys" with him...........and they beat 3 all stars! Never forget!
Yet................when GS had their 3 against Lebron and his no bodies.........the media cried it wasnt fair! Cus LeBaby!

Lebron can’t win a title without a super team. Two other all star teammates. Heck sometimes he still can’t win even with that much help. Sad.

Woo! Geaux Rockets. Top team ever if it wasnt for GOAT! If they would just give it to Harden every possession we would win every championship. Have you seen his offensive production? Its through the roof!!! Rockets got secret moves on the table - league fricked. Sleepwalk to GOAT loss, easily.
