Short form - He fricked up his back, hence why his initial Knicks contract got voided.

Depending on which disc it was, it may have contributed to him missing games the last few years as arm problems are associated with it.

I have it on good authority from this board and the Pels board that "Plan A" was to trade Jayson Tatum and a chunk of all those assets to New Orleans for AD.

I’m pretty sure SFP was the leader of the, “Tatum is happening and the Lakers literally can’t ever put a package together that even equals Tatum” squad.

That was before Kyrie tanked the Celtics

Before Tatum was off the table

Before the Lakers got the #4 pick

Before we got Zion

Before they invented a new way to mortgage the future

These were things I personally never saw coming.

I’m really glad it worked out the way it did in retrospect.

i think its hilarious how some of these talking points magically changed after the trade was completed. i have no idea what your takes were, but there were A LOT of pelican posters on here telling me that the 4th pick had next to no value. and mind you, i was being told this as recently as the thursday before the trade was announced

Yeah, that’s fair.

I think there were a lot of posters who flat out didn’t want a Lakers trade for vindictive reasons and were forming their opinions around that.

I was pretty pissed at how the whole thing went down with AD - any reasonable fan would be - so we didn’t want to give all the people we were mad at exactly what they wanted.

Hell, I’m sure I had some bad takes in regards to that.

All I’m saying now, in this thread, is that a lot of shite changed between the initial rejection in February and the accepting of a deal in June.

Oh yeah, “4th pick in a 3 man draft” was the new talking point once the Lakers vaulted up the lottery

“Tatum + #14 > anything the Lakers can offer”

Lol harf

Am I the only one who can’t shake the thought that NO getting Zion has changed the perception of the trade?

I think the addition has allowed Pels fans to sit back and really admire what they’ve got to work with now and in the future. And rightfully so no doubt. There’s almost no way they won’t be an exciting team to call your own.

Buuuuuut without Zion I think there would be quite a bit of uncertainty moving forward. Hell, the trade doesn’t even have to be a resounding success for the Pels to be in a nice spot in the league.

But without Zion this trade would be put under a microscope constantly and either Lonzo or Ingram would probably HAVE to show out for Pels fans to feel really good about things.

Just a thought. Kinda seems like getting Zion empowered Pels fans to show their asses about the trade.

Tbh I’m looking forward to the 180 they do on Ingram and Lonzo. It has already kind of started.

I genuinely hate that I have to root against them now.

It was fun to be the vocal guy against them when WCA and other Lakers fans were talking highly of them(ew). But it was all in good fun.

Now I really have to root against them. I want this trade to go as poorly as possible for NO

I’m petty.

I was down on lonzo early, but he's shown enough when not injured to see he has potential to be an incredible player. Give him a league average shot and he's a really great all around player.

I've been on the Ingram train since day one.

Eta: I truly think you can't reasonably argue that Lavar DIDN'T hurt his sons image/stock among the general public. He was already under the microscope going to the Lakers as a high pick and highly touted prospect. Lavar drove that up to 11,000 so when it was clear his offensive game still needs some work and needed serious work on his shot, people were more than happy to clown on him/lavar for being so hyped.

Agree with everything you said. You Pels take care of muh long boi. He’s going to be a stud imo. Those posters otb that acted like he’s not even in the stratosphere as Tatum are going to look very silly
