Hawks were never contenders in the East. Maybe with Wilkins/Doc/Willis/Tree Rollins. The Mookie/Smith/Dik teams were second round at best during the Bulls years. Best years in that franchise came with Pettit in St. Louis.

Anyway, this team sure could use Brewer's perimeter defense.

That was a badly reffed game. The "clear path" call, several phantom fouls on Dwight, the Jason Terry "travel", the ridiculous technical foul they called on Harden, etc.

Great win for the Hawks. The might not have the best talent in the east, but they play together so well. Coach Bud is more than earning his paycheck, especially since we have missed Teague the past two games against Cleveland and Houston, and have still won.

Im a big Hawks fan, and I want to jump on saying they are great, but I still need to see more than 25 games. If we are still playing like this at the all star break, especially after our big western road trip, then Ill be ready to put them in the upper echelon, until then, I still think we are probably around a top four team in the east.

Sure are this season. If we get home court in the playoffs I could easily see this team in the finals. And then anything can happen

Him and Ferry have been on the same page in terms of free agents...Thabo, Antic, Millsap, Carroll, resigning Korver and Terry. We just need Ferry to step up his draft game. Schroder and Scott have been excellent for their spots, but Payne and Jenkins have been non-contributors.

****Edit:I am a Adreian Payne hater. I hated him as a draft prospect, and wanted no part of him. Him not even making the Hawks roster gives me joy and sadness. Needless to say, I never see him doing anything at the NBA level.

i dunno what to think of adreian at this point. i wanted other guys at the time, but i cant even remember who. no one that i really wanted fell to us. he is the exact type of guy for this system, though, so i get why we drafted him. it's still relatively early, although he is old.

what we really need is for the nets to blow this season and get into the lottery. that would be so awesome.

I wanted KJ McDaniels or the Anderson point forward kid from Ucla. Payne got hurt before the season started I believe, and it stunted his growth. He may yet be a contributor in his career, just maybe not til next yr. I believe in Bud and staff when it comes to development, and even though AP is 'old', he can improve. Look at where Demarre was before the Hawks.

I can give my top 10 of who I wanted at that spot, and Payne wasnt even close. I had him as a second round prospect.

1.Rodney Hood
2.K. J. McDaniels
3.Gary Harris
4.Cleanthony Early
5.Jordan Adams
6.James Young
7.Jusuf Nurkic
8.Walter Tavares
9.P. J. Hairston
10.Kyle Anderson

i think i wanted gary harris but i dont like that in hindsight.

man kj mcdaniels would be nice. we are pretty weak at the wing and he fits pretty damn well into what we have. he could obviously play too. pretty high floor. lower ceiling than some guys, but probably still a higher ceiling than payne. kinda weird. hey, we got tavares, though!

im not really worried about our drafting at this point. schroder looks to be a stud, and he is young as shite. pretty excited about him.

really do want the nets to get into that lottery though. ECF and a lottery pick in the same year
