I know one stat Magic as a rookie started at center in the finals and played the whole game at center and scored forty-something and was finals MVP.

I don't think you logically make that one.
Thought first 10 years in league they are basically even. Lebron average 2 more ppg than Bird did and Bird avg 4 more boards ppg.
They are crazy even so I don't see why you think it's impossible to pick bird without being illogical.
James has the defensive edge which would prob. give him the edge over Bird in some peoples eyes but many people forget about that end of the floor.
I find Birds stats 88-92 amazing with the horrible back problems he was having.

Lebron is physically built to dominate in basketball by out-athleting and muscling other players. He's the perfect "in between size" to play any position at times.
To me, his fundamental basketball skills will never be up to par with his physical stature. It's a blessing and a curse for him. This was also Shaq's biggest problem.
...and he doesnt have that driving fire that the Goat and several other greats of the game had. He'd rather someone else do it when it counts.

Wasn't that his rookie year?

The Lakers compiled a 60–22 record in the regular season and reached the 1980 NBA Finals,[37] in which they faced the Philadelphia 76ers, who were led by forward Julius Erving. The Lakers took a 3–2 lead in the series, but Abdul-Jabbar, who averaged 33 points a game in the series,[38] sprained his ankle in Game 5 and could not play in Game 6.[35] Paul Westhead decided to start Johnson at center in Game 6; Johnson recorded 42 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals in a 123–107 win, while playing guard, forward, and center at different times during the game.[35] Johnson became the only rookie to win the NBA Finals MVP award,[35] and his clutch performance is still regarded as one of the finest in NBA history.[6][39][40] He also became one of four players to win NCAA and NBA championships in consecutive years.[41]

That's actually a complete myth.
He "started at Center" but played very little actual Center in the game.

Yeah and he was Finals MVP as rookie too.

It would be nice if guys around him stepped up as well. When you average 25+ per game and your team has yet to reach the century mark in this series, something is up.

Good shite, Mikey
Bird doesn't get the appreciation he deserves sometimes when talking about top 10 all time.

his fundamental basketball skills
Why do people hate on his fundamentals?
The guy is an elite passer, by far one of the best ball handlers for his size, and can score from everywhere on the floor.
Also he is criticized for making the correct basketball play all the time instead of taking the stupid contested shot. That is also a sign of good fundamentals.

When they tell you that youre playing with the greatest player in the league, in crunch time who are you going to want to throw the ball to and expect to deliver?
Lebron needs to stop acting like a fragile and delicate baby in the finals and live up to expectations.

part of fundamentals is shooting. a high percentage jumpshot. scoring enough points that people call you legoat. he needs to be putting up goat numbers and he just cant do it. he's not that guy.
Where are the heroic performances? the 50 pt finals games? the "get on my back team" games?
i like his shoes though. sweet nikes.

Sigh.
When your stats are basically even it can never be illogical to pick a or b. Lebrons a great player....I'm not attacking him. Just breath. We will get you through the night

The guy is averaging 28 ppg in the finals and shooting 60% from the field and 3pt. There really isn't anything else to do. Those are basically walking on water stats.

I honestly don't like Lebron and root against him whenever possible, but looking at Lebron's shooting and post game it is retarded to act like he is coasting on his athleticism.

What is lebrons average this series?
