The U.S. fans will because those games aren't on TV and it's a tad bit more difficult to attend a game. If anything, the owners know many of the good players can leave and still make their money in Europe. That might have an affect on negotiations.

the NBA is driven by star power

The number should probably be closer to $60 million, but they have to go to a hard cap.

They wont make as much as they would here, even with a $50 million hard cap.

As long as guaranteed contracts die a horrible death or are changed forever, I'm fine with whatever else they do, within reason.

There is talk of voiding all contracts during the lockout and starting over
Which is part of the rumor behind the Joe Johnson deal. Supposedly ATL was banking on Johnson's deal being voided
I've always wondered if this was the case, but that's a pretty huge gamble to make.

Yes they will. Not all of them, but the ones that matter.

i agree. if they go to a hard cap, it has to be $60-65M. $45M is a complete joke

Based on what? Ricky Rubios 6 year deal at $2.8 mil per year?

Brandon Jennings said he had a lot of trouble getting his money in europe, and that it was never on time
And that greek team offered Kobe more than what he is making in the current format. Thats a 1 time crazy deal because they wanna start an entire franchise around him, new stadium and all.

Are you trying to be retarded? European basketball doesnt bring in enough money to be able to bring in all the nba talent. Read up on all of european basketballs economic problems. They lose their best players to the nba because they cant make enough money to be able to make competitive offers. If they could make money paying their best players $13 million a year they would do it. What makes basketball teams money? Putting asses in seats and tv contracts. The NBA teams bring in a LOT more revenue than the european teams. How do you think the european teams are gonna be able to outbid the nba teams for players when nba teams will have around $50 million to spend and there arent any european teams spending $50mil on their roster

But they aren't dumb either and know how to invest. If, hypothetically, Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Durant, etc etc started pouring in over there you can guarantee tv contracts, etc would follow and certain teams would pay what it took. Heck, I'd bet certain governments would step in and pay what it took to get those players as an investment.

I just think it's ironic how the very globalization that Stern pushed may be the very thing that is gonna bite him in the butt.
European basketball is already affecting college basketball to a degree. High School players can jump over there to bypass potential "college rules" and then jump back to the NBA.
