why do you include the heat? they're ranked 17th out of 30 teams
because like I said in the rest of my post, the 6 players they have locked for the next 3 years (probably 4 years because guys like Miller and Haslem will take the player option) will be over the $45M hard cap. For the 2012-2013 season they already have 65.7M locked up. The year after that 71M. Even with the proposed % cuts from exisiting contracts they will be over the $45 hard cap with those 6 players. By 2014 they would be over the hard cap with just the big 3 contracts.
Basically any team with 3 or more big contracts would be fricked.

Thats the exact same thing as saying money and tv contracts and people would follow the mls if they brought over beckham, t. Henry, etc.

it's not close to the same
there are plenty of successful clubs and leagues in europe. the demand is there
there isn't a legitimate league in america, yet. the demand isn't there

josh childress played some of his greek games in buildings no better than HS gyms...
honestly their best hope is picking 6 markets to become the european division of the NBA...
Athens, Barcelona, Madrid, Istanbul, Rome, and idk, Paris?

You dont have a clue what you are talking about. MLS generates a LOT more money than any of the european basketball leagues. The highest attendance per game is the spanish league (ACB) which averages less than 6,500 people per game. the second Highest Turkish league averages less than 3,300. MLS average attendance last year was over 16,600 per game.

MLS has better attendance than NBA and NHL.

How was the attendance when the big NBA stars came to play during the olympics? It exploded. The demand will definitely be there if the European people think they have the best players in the world and aren't watching a second rate league anymore.

with the salaries posted earlier in this thread, i highly doubt that the MLS will show more revenue than european basketball
i just looked and like 5 players in the MLS make 7 figures (that may be outdated by a year)

well you're wrong. i know that for a fact, it's just hard finding euro basketball revenue numbers on the internet because the league is owned by the spanish government

i find it hard to believe b/c there are like maybe 3 profitable clubs, and their expenses aren't that great
i could be wrong, but i doubt it

season tickets for the most profitable basketball team in spain (Barcelona) cost from 73 euros to 300 euros.
i read on another forum that no euro basketball teams make a profit

the league had a big uptick in ratings this year
basically fans are coming back generally + the knicks, bulls, and heat getting star power pushed the national interest up
you're countering your own argument.. you say parity is bad for the NBA (why a fan would ever argue this is beyond me)(unless you're a laker bandwagoner) yet you admit the ratings are up this year because more teams are good.

teams are always good
chicago, new york, and miami being good/great teams is somewhat new. add in los angeles, boston, dallas, and philly and look at the media markets
1. New York
2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. Philly
5. Boston
7. Dallas
9. ATL
Let's look at the top bandwagons in the NBA
Lakers
Celtics
Bulls
Knicks
THIS is what the NBA needs

ding ding.
"miami" could be in south dakota and would get great ratings just based on the players.

yeah they're now the #1 bandwagon team, but the fact that the 4 historical bandwagon teams are good PLUS miami AND all those other huge media markets = NBA improving its ratings

That may have helped, but I can tell you right now that myself and quite a few others that I know watched hornets games this year because we saw things like the 9 game win streak and thought "wow the hornets look like they could actually do something.
and during the regular season? I watched maybe 2 basketball games besides hornets. A lot of people are turned off by 4 dominating teams.
