Where exactly was Hinch supposed to put Cole in?
the 8th probably

Even that didn't make sense though, unless you have regained the lead. At that point Osuna was already in the game so you have to get what you can out of him.

The ugly fact is that the 7th inning went sideways so fast, there was nothing Hinch could do to get Cole in with the lead.

Scherzer was a warrior out there. Same thing in the first game and the last. Astros made him work and he responded.

You are right and not just tonight but in every game this series! Credit to the Nats for getting those hits.

its a one run game in the 8th inning in game 7 of the world series. who gives a frick about the 10th, all that matters is keeping that deficit to one to give you offense the best chance it has to find a way to tie the game over the last 6 outs

the only purpose the team has in the entire world is to keep the deficit at one in that situation. you have to use your best pitcher in that moment

It’s amazing to me that everyone is just ignoring the offensive issues. Crazy. The Astros had ample opportunities to more runs on the board and change the ball game early, and they absolutely, completely failed.

I don’t think anyone is necessarily ignoring that it’s just somewhat expected and then there were obvious instances that hinch had to stem the tide and reverse the momentum that he didn’t.

He’s going to let the best pitcher in the league not pitch and the deficit expand in a game 7 in the World Series. Inexcusable.

The offense has been hit and miss in the postseason but they hit the ball on a line early just right at outfielders. Sucks but it happens at times.

I'm still trusting Osuna there over a wild card Cole out of the pen. If Cole had entered in the 8th and gotten shelled, the question would be "why did you take out your closer who is used to pitching in those situations".

Should have never come to that point. Should have been ahead 5-0 instead of 2-0.

Yep. One run game in the 8th and 2 run in the 9th. I can somewhat understand expecting a closer to get through the 8th unscathed. No excuse for not using in one of those instances though. Kept waiting for the “right moment” which only further prevented said moment from happening

What’s your excuse for the ninth?

You think a 2 run deficit with 1-2-3 against Daniel Hudson isn’t any different than a 4 run?

I feel your pain, but Cole on 2 days rest wasn't a guarantee to mow people down like normal. I get it if Hinch was reluctant.

maybe to people who cant think critically. i fully understand not wanting to put cole in the game mid inning in the 7th. no real reason for whatever the frick you want to call hinch was doing in the 8th and 9th

Just wanted to say one thing
AJ Hinch was 0/0 from the plate this post season
Relief pitching was never a strength of this team and if it came to relief pitching to win WS games the Astros were fricked

Elimination is on the line and he goes with Jose urquidy and joe smith over Gerrit cole.

That’s a reputation defining move. Say it out loud and you might realize how crazy it sounds

That said I posted this a few days ago

And I nailed it. You can’t pitch a guy 6 times in a series and not expect him to get tired/figured out

So they scored runs on the road and didn’t let their relief pitching be a factor

Also another complaint I have is having Jake marisnick bat twice in a game 7. Absurd

Because AJ managed every game like it was going to be 2-1. He never considered the fact that he might need a bunch of runs.
