What’s the solution?
Salary cap per conference?
One free transfer, then lose eligibility unless coach transfers?
I’ve said this from the beginning. The money is the problem.
Sports revenue:
Implement revenue sharing for each conference.
Implement a salary cap for football coaches across conference.
- HC can’t be more than 1% of sports revenue
- AC can’t be more than .75 % of sports revenue
Allocate a certain percentage (25%) for facility maintenance and operations.
Allocate a certain percentage for scholarships. Includes a certain amount for stipends to student athletes.
The rest goes to the academic side.
Each program is audited at the end of the FY.
NIL/collectives/jobs:
Student athletes can work outside of school, but have a limit on earnings. (Limit is reasonable like $55K or something)
Collectives can donate to athletic programs, but not to school. Money can’t be used for salaries of coaches or payment to players.
Students can’t accept anything other than scholarship or limited salary for job. Period! Anyone caught taking money is forever banned from college sports and school faces sever penalties.
Student athletes:
Play for pay is bannable offense.
Transfers mean sitting out a year.

When someone can pay these kids whatever they want to play for whichever school, that's the free market working.
And I'm not a progressive, just way smarter than your dumbass.

Well this is the system that they want more and more of in regular society. That's why they are going after the young athletes first.

There needs to be structured contracts. Imagine if Josh Allen comes out and says im not playing in the playoffs unless I get 20M. This shite is a joke and these selfish assholes like Nico and Underwood are ruining college football. They can frick off. Tennessee should be glad to get rid of that over-rated bum anyway.
Rant over.

you need to sit this one out. In fact, you need to sit everyone of these out. You're not smart.

What most idiots don’t understand is that this is true, but the couple of bad actors shouldn’t ruin it for everyone else.
And guess what, now Nico doesn’t have a place to play because he was a dumbass s

Well this is what happens when you refuse to create a structured means to pay players, stick your head in the ground and say "they're getting free scholarships!" even though the universities are generating millions, ADs and coaches are getting paid big and the television networks are raking it in.
They wanted to turn it into a multi-billion market but wanted to keep the same rules for the players.
You guys go greedy and now want to cry about it.
I hate it too but for every one of you idiots who were against the NCAA giving players a structured cut and saying they should be happy with just their scholarships... screw you.
We're all just laying in the bed of moron you made for us.
100% backwards.
The smart people in the room tried to warn people like you over and over and over again that the slippery slope of NIL would destroy the game. Your bleeding heart couldn't handle it.
Keep in mind. All the NCAA ever did was set the rules within itself. The yearly agreements were always voluntary. Nobody was forced to agree to it. Players could quit at any time. Nobody was forced to play or repay scholarships. They could have cashed in on their image at any time if they were willing to forgo eligibility. They could have decided to play in other leagues at any time if they were willing to forego eligibility. There was no obligation for the player except for how it impacts him remaining within the NCAA.
It's a white paper for how bleeding hearts can destroy good things.

To the detriment of the sport. There's being pro-free market for the sake of being a capitalist and there's being a pragmatist. The system as it is set up right now is absolutely 100% broken. A player should not have the ability to step in before a playoff run and demand more money or else he's sitting. That's not how that should work.

I think you can have one of NIL or unlimited transfer portal. Both of them together is the problem. If they actually were locked in to some of these deals/commitments it would probably go a long way.
You can’t play pretend professional some of the time. If you want this deal there should be a contract in place that needs to be honored in order to receive the payment.
It’s clearly not sustainable in its current form.

Last year was awesome, the ratings were up or the same. Nothing is “destroyed” no matter how many times a bunch of dudes who may or may not have even gone to college repeat it

A super majority of players would sign up for contracts today.
