That's why Joe Louis, in my book is the Greatest. He held the title from 1937-1949, while serving his country during WWII.

Let's not act like Louis was in the trenches. He went to boot camp but spent most of the war doing boxing matches for our troops and never saw combat. And don't even try to compare the 2 wars and want it meant to fight in either one.

Conditioning, power, speed and stamina. Mike Tyson wouldn't be able to catch him in the early rounds and he sure as hell wouldn't be able to do anything late. Plus he was used to going 15 rounds instead of 12 and trained accordingly.

He became immensely likable and so we factor in that.

Plus he kissed my sister when she was four at the airport and didn't brush her off when we made her go get his autograph. And he stood up in the galley on the plane the entire 4 hour flight and entertained all the guys with stories. Cool dude.
