However, when looking at some performances of the past, there is one Jags fans should especially be proud of and that’s the one Jimmy Smith put up Week 2 of the regular season against the Baltimore Ravens during the 2000 season. In that game, against a historically good defense, Smith registered 15 catches for 291 yards, and three touchdowns. He also averaged 19.40 yards a reception that day.

Very little known fact he did that to one of if not the greatest D of all time some say

Torched em

Didnt really find his footing until Jags at 26. Still 12,300 yds 67 TD in his career

Watching this reminded me they peaked so early right out the gate almost

Him, Fred Taylor, and Keenan McCardell were an underrated trio for sure.

Former Ravens CB Chris McAlister said Jimmy Smith was the hardest WR he had to cover during his career. Apparently, all of the breaks out of Smith’s routes were identical so it was virtually impossible to read the routes he was going to run.

Marques Colston. Has to be the greatest WR to never make a Pro Bowl.

Not sure I’d say the most underrated, but Andre Johnson put up some crazy numbers for a decade. And that was with Carr and Schaub as his QBs. Pretty much every WR ahead of him in career yards was also playing with a top QB

Those late 90s, 2000 Jags had some amazing teams.

as for other names:
Wayne Chrebet - not eye popping stats, but a smaller WR that would always make plays. One of my favorites for the Jets.

Donald Driver was another one that was scrappy as hell and was always the guy making the big plays to win games, but never really got the accolades. Plus, he only missed 4 games in his career

And that’s why he was 3 time first team all pro
And 2 time second team all pro

He’s eligible for the Hall in 2021
He’ll be in it

My answer. He was putting up historic numbers before the pass happy era and has seemingly been forgotten as one of the top 10 or so of all time.

I was just going to post this. Sharpe was the best WR in the league for a few seasons. He was right there with Rice..

I’m not old enough to remember him.
But he’s one of the best to come from UofSC

This, his brother gets all the notoriety, but Sterling was a better receiver.

What could have been if he had been able to stay healthy and paired up with Favre. He did hold the single season NFL reception record for a short time at 108 in 1992.

Also loved watching Donald Driver.
