Who???????

I've always wondered, because I didn't necessarily grow up watching basketball in the 90s. Who was considered the alpha man on those Jazz teams, John Stockton or Karl Malone. Did Stockton benefit from being able to pass to Malone, or did Malone benefit from being able to have Stockton dishing the ball to him. Or was the relationship mutually beneficial

Oh so you didn’t like him so nobody else should????????

He was a little choir boy/teachers pet acting SOB but the dirtiest player in the league at the same time. Highly unlikeable.

So he a lot like Harden then..... ok got it.

This. Stockton and Malone were both excellent in the midrange pick and roll because Stockton could shoot and pass and Malone could pop or roll and finish.
Stockton was a great distributor, but not an explosive scorer. Malone was a great scorer and finisher, but not much of a shot creator for others. They were both fantastically durable.
So for 20 years, Stockton did the creating and Malone did the finishing. It was a symbiotic relationship like Magic and Kareem.

Harden is from south central LA. he has no choir boy in him and doesn’t act like it. in other words he ain’t fake, like Stockton.

bullshite...... harden is one of the most unliked players in the league. He is a choir-boy for the refs.....

oh then why does he win players mvp so often
would his fellow player vote him for mvp if he was only good bc of refs? Use your brain for this. Think before you answer.

Stockton is 47th on all time scoring list. The guy was a legit shooter and could drive to the basket and score. If defenders both went with Malone on the pick and roll, they paid for it with 2pts. Averaged 13.1 a game.

I have never said he was a bad player. He is a real good offensive player that gets the Benefit of the doubt from the refs.

He never averaged more than 17.2 PPG.
He could make the D pay if they didn't play him, but he was never a big scorer. His career high was 11.8 shots a game.
Stockton's biggest positives were also his biggest negatives. He was a pass first PG with tremendous consistency and longevity. He had 14 seasons of double figure points and at least 8 APG.
He also didn't have the extra gear the top ten guys have. He could never drop 42 to win the finals like Magic did to the Sixers. He just rang up 15 and 12 like clockwork.

Stocton's defense (all time nba leader in steals) often goes overlooked and I believe puts him in a class higher than Malone.

The best players always go to the line a lot.
1. They have the ball a lot
2. They can’t be guarded without fouling
3. They know how to draw fouls
Many people say harden is the greatest offensive player ever, so you would assume he would also go to the line more than any player, ever. Wouldn’t you?

Peak Championship year Bill Walton probably doesn’t get enough appreciation because injuries made it a flash in the pan
The year after the title, the Blazers were 50-10 when Walton got hurt.
But for those two years, no center ever had a more complete game.

Well he is not the best offensive player ever. He also gets more benefits from the refs than say A Lillard... that’s a fact. But it still remains that Harden is a player that will never win a title just like Stockton. You hate Stockton for some reason.....
Posted on 5/15/20 at 11:41 am to dukke v
he is dirty and overrated. that’s plenty enough reason for me.

I would like to submit Tony Allen to the list. The man had a 14 year career while having absolutely zero offensive skills. But he made a career of being an elite defender.
