Florida is the team I can't figure out. They are so nondescript in style they make my head hurt watching them.
#3 in the country in scoring offense
#1 in the country in 3-point FG's made/game
#3 in the country in offensive efficiency
Just blew out two of the top 4 defensive teams in the country.
Only losses both @ the #1 and #2 teams in the country.
Any questions?

Im guessing you arent getting what I am stating. They have not a certain style, so when you expect them to run like the old Gator teams, they dont. When you expect them to slow down, they dont. It makes my head hurt because I cant watch them because they are nondescript in their styles.

I still think it's Louisville. They are barely beating mediocre mid-majors. GTown and UK are up next. I don't think they win either game.
Baylor is overrated as well.
Cuse is very good, but a very favorable schedule will get them to 25-0 or so.

They are having a hell of a time beating decent teams like BYU and WVU who are not that good.
They are not the number 6 or 7 team in the country.

UK will go down early in the tourney - they don't have solid guard play even with the talent they have. The NCAA tourney is all about solid guard play. Book it

This must be the year for Baylor. I mean seriously, where the heck did they come from?

Makes no sense.

I'm not saying they're the best team by any means, but this early in the season, they've got a solid resume, and they get another test against Mississippi State in Dallas next week. Winning at BYU isn't an easy task.

They are a legit team, but I think they have the weakest resume of the top 8 or so teams other than Louisville. I see them as a 3 or 4 seed in the NCAAs.
I have them as one of the top 2 teams in the Big 12, but they played a really weak schedule until last night. The WVU game didn't convince me of too much although their juco point guard is a great finisher.

Fair enough. Yeah, Pierre Jackson is the JUCO PG. He needs to be the starter. Walton is absolutely terrible other than being a solid perimeter defender.

100% False.
A Calipari coached team that does not turn the ball over will always advance far in the tournament. Unlike you I'll provide some evidence.
Memphis 2008 Turnover rate 16.5 D1 avg. 20.9
Kentucky 2011 Turnover rate 16.1 D1 avg. 20.1
Kentucky 2012 Turnover rate 17.4 D1 avg. 21.2
For perspective 2010 Kentucky turned the ball over at a 20.3% clip while the D1 avg. was 20.4%.
So to say we currently don't have good guard play is absurd.

They ran some unique line-ups today. Quincy Miller didn't play much, I don't think Bello got in the game once, and Heslip played almost the entire game even though he's mostly a spot-up shooter.
If I was in charge, I'd play Miller, Acy, Jones, and Jackson the most. Also Anthony Jones, then Heslip. Not too impressed with Walton either and I really don't like Gary Franklin's style of play, either.

What?
When is the last time a Calipari team went out early in the tournament?
They've made it out of the first weekend every year since 2006, as far as I can remember. And usually they advance at least to the Elite 8.
They have too much talent. I actually think they are going to win it all this year.

Yeah, I think Drew is still doing a lot of experimenting with line-ups because of all of the new arrivals. Miller and Bello came in as freshmen, Jackson as a JUCO, and Franklin and Heslip as transfers. Perry Jones was suspended for the first 5 games, and this is only Franklin's second or third game with the team. I don't know what to expect other than Acy and Perry to start.
Miller sat for a long stretch last night against St Mary's, too. I think Drew was frustrated last night because Miller quit playing within the offense. He made a shot last night late in the shot clock, iso'd the next possession and drilled one, and then iso'd the next possession and forced a shot early in the clock, then got pulled. If he plays within the offense and improves his offensive awareness, I think he'll play as much as Perry and Acy. He starts feeling himself too much at times and try to go one-on-one without realizing that there's help-defenders that block shots and take charges regularly in college.
Bello is a good defender with size so he will come in handy when they face good scoring perimeter players. Offensively, Bello really has no clue what to do, though. He's got to adjust to the game speed.
I think I'd go with the same line-up as you. Walton should only get a lot of minutes if the opposing PG is very good or if Pierre is just getting torn up. I'd start Heslip and keep him on the floor just because he's very heady and can expand the defense for the bigs. Perry Jones HAS to start showing up, though. He puts up a great statline one night, and absolutely disappears the next. When he's in third gear, there's little that the opponent can do about it. It's just a matter of him putting it into gear.

Probably. BUT, any time you come out with a W against a solid opponent with only 11 points contributed by Perry Jones and Quincy Miller combined, you have to feel good about the depth of this team. There's different guys stepping up in different games, and they're going to have to if they want to make it far.

I know! It will be a good measuring stick for both teams.

One of my best friends goes to State and we contemplated making the trip, but ultimately decided against it.
