no one cares about basketball in comparison to hockey regarding all time franchises. Mainly due to the 40 years extra.

Blues or Bills. Blues went to the Stanley Cup Finals 3 straight years and got swept each time (68-70).
Not sure if that’s worse or the Bills failing to win one.
Honorable mention: PHX Suns. For as many memorable teams as they’ve had (Nash & Barkley), surprising they never got one title. Or more success.

Vikings. 0-4 in Super Bowl. Several heartbreaking, soul crushing playoff losses. 98 team GOAt offense and they choke at home in NFCCG when their K misses his first FG of the season. They pissed away the NFCCG in NO too. Blair Walsh.

Didn’t think it could get much worse than watching them blow Game 7 of the 1997 World Series. Yet somehow losing Game 7 to the fricking Cubs (of all teams) in 2016 managed to be even more gut-wrenching.

The Lions went 0-16 in our lifetime and had two of the most talented wide receivers and running backs of all time retire in their primes. It's either them or the Vikings for me.

They made a NFC CG with Barry and Fontes. I guess it depends on what you consider "sniffed", since they got blown out against the Redskins. Lions and Indians are excellent candidates though.
I'll throw in my White Sox. Yeah, they won in 2005, but no one outside of Chicago and Houston gave a shite. And the club's most famous (infamous) achievement is still throwing the 1919 World Series. And they have to share the city with the Cubs. And they have a worse winning percentage than the Cubs historically. And they tore down the oldest classic ballpark in baseball.
