I'm sure I won't get a lot of responses, but anyone watching?

For those that aren't familiar, it's basically golf's Ryder Cup, except for pool. USA versus Europe. Last year it was played in Las Vegas with Europe winning. This year its being played in London.

quote:

The 2021 Mosconi Cup begins today, December 7, and runs until Friday, December 10. The annual 9-ball pool tournament pits the best 9-ball players in the US against the best Europe has to offer. In this year’s Mosconi Cup, each team is made up of five players, plus a non-playing captain and a non-playing vice-captain. Team USA will compete against team Europe over a team match, doubles matches, and singles matches. The first team to win 11 matches claims victory to take home the 2021 Mosconi Cup.

quote:

Tuesday, December 7 – Four matches including one team event, one singles contest and two doubles games.

Wednesday, December 8 – Three singles matches and two doubles games.

Thursday, December 9 – Three singles matches and three doubles games, including a fans’ choice doubles clash.

Friday, December 10 – Six singles matches

Today started with a team match. 5 players from each team playing head to head until one team wins 5 racks.

Day 1 Highlights

Day 1 - Match 1
Team Match

Day 1 - Match 3
Shane Van Boening vs Filler

Day 1 - Match 4

I'm just now watching. Was not able to watch live today but will try to watch tomorrow.

Hopefully there's other pool players here that would enjoy the watch. I had friends that went to it in Vegas, I might go next year. If I'm not the only one watching I'll try to keep the thread updated.

Hey, got 3 likes.

2-2 after yesterday's 4 matches.

Trying to watch a free stream. I'll post it here if I find it. If anyone knows one let us know.

I have the yearly DAZN subscription that is broadcasting it now. It is one of the better deals in sports streaming in my opinion with boxing, MMA, Snooker, Pool, Darts, Soccer, Cricket, etc. all being broadcast for the $99 a year subscription.

Hell, one PPV fight will cost almost that much.

ETA: I'm a player, and big fan of darts and have been following the PDC Darts Tournaments for many years now over the net. DAZN carries all the big tournaments and the Premier League play every spring.

Yeah, I considered just doing the one month for $20 thing, still might, but too busy during the day right now to watch live and can watch all the matches on YouTube tonight after work.

Good to know that DAZN is a good option though.

Thanks for keeping me from talking to myself, btw.

I always watch these eventually. The US has really been dominated over the past 10 years.

Took the words out of my mouth. Those guys on the men's side and Jeanette Lee, Ewa Matawya, Allison Fisher, Vivian Villarreal on the women's. I was about 13-14 back then and absolutely obsessed with pool. I practically learned to play watching ESPN pool

Earl can really be an arse. But he is entertaining. And a damn fine player. He surely takes pride in repping the US.

Yeah, that blows. Jeremy Jones is doing his best but Earl would have been a huge help.

Still, we have a lead going into day 3. Up 5-4.

Willie and all those other sharks were celebrities back in the day. Saw Detroit Whitey do a demonstration back in the day.

I got to see Mosconi do an exhibition back in the early 70's and he ran rack after rack of straight pool without a miss before switching off and getting into some of his trick shots.

Very impressive stuff and one of my favorite old school pool players. There were a couple time he and Minnesota Fats played on TV-----Wide World Of Sports I believe, and Willie always came out on top.

Fats was more of a showman but never saw the prestige Willie gathered during his time at the tables.

A regulation pool table has to feel like a bumper pool table to the snooker players with the size difference.

It didn't hurt Allison Fisher or Karen Korr to come from Snooker to the American game of 9 ball as they dominated for decades on the WPBA.

I never got to see stuff like that. But I did get to watch my friend's 12 year old play Jeanette Lee at her exhibit in Vegas during the APA tournament. It was a fun watch, she would mess with anyone that was playing her and the kid was giving back as much as she was giving. Lots of balls on that kid to get up in front of the crowd and give her some shite. I still show that to people on Facebook from time to time.

Match 3

Only thing I see so far. Hopefully that's not a bad sign. Trying not to look at any updates until I watch the matches.
