Oh, and for the record, I'm a huge fan of both Duncan and Brady (Go Blue!)

Neither Duncan nor Brady are the GOATs in their sport.

Only one of them has a serious argument for GOAT at his position.

One of them is uncontested GOAT for his franchise, the other's just in the conversation.

It's Duncan, but this thread is GOAT stupid

Duncan was in his absolute prime from '02 to '07. Sounds a bit like Brady to me. This is tough with my Black and Silver shades on, but whatever. Duncan FTW.

I'm assuming Brady is the uncontested GOAT for his franchise?

ETA: I believe Duncan is much closer to the greatest PF than Brady is to the greatest QB, BUT Brady may be a better QB than Duncan is a PF. Not sure if that makes sense though.

Brady. It's much harder to win a Super Bowl if you have a superior team because it's a single elimination tournament. If the NFL playoffs were a best of 5, Brady would have more titles.

Nope. The people I mentioned were better in their primes in my opinion.

Saying Tim Duncan is the best PF ever is one of those things where people keep repeating it so any differing opinion is immediately dismissed.

When people say he's the best they are usually talking about his career from start to finish and the number of rings he has, all-star appearances, MVP's, etc. They are talking about his accomplishments.

I'm talking about his skill as a player at the prime of his career vs. other PF's relative to their competition.

Duncan won four titles, 2 MVP's, and three FMVP's in his "prime" (1999-2007).

I just said I'm not talking about accomplishments. I'm talking about ability as a basketball player.

And his ability as a basketball player won his team 4 titles, 3 FMVP's, and 2 MVP's in his prime.

Either the point is going over your head or you are being purposely obtuse.

What? You say he is not as good of a player as others in his prime, but when he was in his prime, he was a 4 time champion. Something none of the other players you named were

So if we aren't going to base anything on accomplishments then tell us what makes each one of the players you listed better. Not just some vague statement. Tell us specifically.

Okay, here is just one example without me shuffling through a bunch of stats.

'81-'82 Moses Malone: 31.1 ppg, 14.7 rpg

'89-'90 Karl Malone: 31.0 ppg, 11.1 rpg, .626 TS%

Duncan prime and KG prime are about = they put up the same stats. Tim Duncan is greatest because of his longevity but don't act like he was head over heels better some of the names prime listed.

And for the record I have absolutely zero hate for the Spurs what-so-ever.

Pats haven't won shite since they were caught cheating.

Gotta go Duncan. Dude is 103 years old and still averaging a double double.

Duncan is better at bball and Brady is better at football. That settles that argument.
