Good to see that piece of garbage fired. Wonder who the next sucker is going to be that hires him.

Yeah...but eventually Sam Darnold will leave school and then he's up shite creek.

Exactly. Helton is not a good coach. The Pac 12 has been pretty weak the past 2 years as well. Next year will be very interesting if Sam leaves.

Mora is one of the bigger pricks in coaching I've ever seen... He'll probably bad mouth UCLA next year when he's a talking head just like he did when he got shite canned in Seattle for Pete Carroll...

What this does for the coaching carousel is now huge... Florida is dragging their feet on Chip and now he'll go to UCLA, it's too perfect of a fit.

That means Frost will probably spurn his Alma mater and go to Florida now... Leaving Mike Leach in play as the new HC for Nebraska.

Also means Jimbo probably moves to A&M and Fla. St possibly hires Kiffin....Mullen to Tenner and Norvell yo Arkansas because Gus won't be fired.

I think Leach stays on the Palouse. He doesn't have to win Conference Titles and of course, doesn't have to compete for National Titles.

Nebraska fans are delusional.

Mike Riley had a nice life in Corvallis and fricked it up by going to a fanbase that expects National Championships.

This sums it up perfectly from something I read on a Nebraska board.

quote:

If I remember, Leach never cared much for Nebraska when he was at Texas Tech. Nebraska people live in some kind of delusional bubble about their programs.

First off, Osborne built his rep on cupcakes, they usually only had 1 or 2 tough games a year, and when OU stunk in the 1990s, he finally was able to collect some trophies. He retired at the point when big12 was starting to become much tougher than what they were used to.

But the Nebraska fans still think they are that 1994-97 program...that was an anomaly (helped by lots of thugs Osborne kept under wraps).

The move to the big10 they thought would be like going back to big8...easy street, but it's turned into a nightmare they can't get out of.

Their fans want Frost (again the 97 delusion) to coach them. He seems to be doing quite well right now, question is, does he really want to return to that delusional bubble to coach?...or go coach some other power 5 team without all that Neb cult baggage to constantly hound him (they are a cult that lives and breaths it 365 days a year there...nothing else to do in the state).

The 90s was totally different than the landscape today as far as quality of teams. It was a perfect storm that worked for Nebraska. OU was down. There was no great Bama team, no great USC team, College football was so down, Michigan won a National Title.

In 1995 Kansas finished ahead of USC, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Miami, Alabama and Auburn in the Final AP Poll. The mid-90's were a total anomaly.

All the traditional powers were down and Nebraska took advantage.

There wasn't an LSU like in the early 2000s. There was no great tOSU.

There was Florida State and Florida under Spurrier, which was a flawed team on defense most seasons. Heck, because of this weird situation, K State was a major player during periods of the late 90s. There just was not a lot of competition for Nebraska among blue blood programs.

Nebraska's competition in the Big 8 was like Colorado and Missouri and K State and then Oklahoma. Not exactly a gauntlet really. So, this was an easy path to a bowl game against teams that were not dominant and did not have great coaches.

This doesn’t mean any of that. Some of that may wind up happening, but this is not some huge domino that’s gonna affect 15 different positions.

UCLA ain't gonna pay top dollar for a football coach so that is a consideration.

SO they'll spend money on the buyout, just to hire a retread? Seems cheaper and easier to wait another year before firing Mora if that's the case.

They might come after Orgeron. Won't have to pay as much to give him a raise and if he succeeds there, it's a great way to troll their crosstown rivals.

Reports are UCLA already has their #1 target, with pac12 experience and ties to Cali recruiting. Chip Kelly

If UCLA gave Chip Kelly the resources he needed to succeed, Chip Kelly in LA would be a scary thing for the PAC12.

Rumor is, they already had the plan in place to begin negotiations with Chip, as soon as they fired Mora. Booster stepped up to push the proceedings.

Yeah the rumor is UCLA didn't wait to fire Mora until after the season is because of Chip.
quote:

Jim Mora Fired by UCLA Because the Bruins Didn't Want Florida to Get Chip Kelly

quote:

If UCLA spent $12 million to fire Jim Mora, it’s got eyes on a big prize. Why Chip Kelly could land in Westwood.

quote:

UCLA is notorious for being frugal when it comes to football, and so, prior to the Bruins’ latest loss to rival USC on Saturday, some had speculated the school might not fire struggling coach Jim Mora after all because of the staggering $12 million buyout it would owe him.

quote:

And you don’t spend $12 million to buy out a middling coach like Mora unless you’ve got eyes on a much bigger prize — that prize being Chip Kelly.

quote:

That's now three consecutive UCLA head coaches who have been fired within 48 hours of losing to USC.

So let's get this straight...a notoriously cheap football school is going to hire a guy who is used to the NFL and the most bells and whistles college football program of all time in Oregon... Makes sense...

Chip better have his agent put some shite in the contract here UCLA has to upgrade their financial backing
