Major league baseball really puts the screw job to fans with their blackout rules. How exactly is BR considered a "home market" for the Astros when we get (at most) half the games here in Baton Rouge.

Because we're considered the home market, Houston games are blacked out on MLB.TV. Prime example was the game yesterday that was broadcast on FS-Houston (couldn't find it anywhere locally on Cox at my GFs, have directv at home btw).

Is setting up a proxy to get around this bullshite my best bet? Any other work arounds? Jailbreak my ipad? Any help would be appreciated, not going through another season of missing half my teams games.

ETA:

ok, someone help me out... Astros/Nats, yahoo is saying its on MASN & FSH, DirecTV is showing a rockets game @ 7.

where can i catch this game in BR on direcTV? thanks!

The blackouts are based on the location of your IP so a proxy will be the easiest.

Here's the MLB map:

You a braves fan?

eta: I haven't followed the Astros for a year or so (yeah I know bandwagon) but don't they show almost all of their games in BR on FSN?

This thread kind of confuses me. You don't need MLB.tv for the Astros here. Just watch FSN.

yeh stros (im a fan) are on fox sports 38 in baton rouge. its the rangers games that we don't get, especially when the two teams are playing at the same time.

I'm still not sure that we will even be able to see the games next year when they aren't on FSN anymore. Anyone know how this is going to work?

ESPN gives the Stros an 8.6% chance of making the playoffs.

i think the only games that blackout are the games that are shown on a FSN channel. If they aren't on TV you should be able to pick them up., i think that is how i remember it.

maybe i was doing something wrong yesterday. maybe lsu softball prempted the stros (softball was on FS-S, stros on FS-H, cox cable in tigerland showed softball on 38).

figured out the proxy thing, hopefully it wont get me in trouble w/ mlb.tv

ETA: boat... gotta watch my team man, win or lose

I'm perfectly happy with just watching my Dbacks on my apple tv/xbox 360/ipad using mlb.tv, but one of my best friends is a huge Rangers fan and it would be nice if he could catch some of the non televised games. Is there a way to jailbreak the apple tv, like you mentioned, so that none of the games are blacked out?

Winning 2/3 to start the season may get me watching them again.

2-1 bitch. It's actually sad I am happy to be one game over 500 after 3 games played.

Not sure. I think their new TV deal is with Comcast. I think they will have to work out a deal with cable and satellite companies to carry the games on them. Hope they do because I want to see Astros games.

quick question...I live in lufkin, tx and they are showing the astros game tonight on FSN houston. I want to purchase mlb.tv to watch the rangers, however don't want to waste money if they will be blacked out. Do you think they'll be blacked out in lufkin?
