Nathan is as good as they come

His results are great.
That doesn't change the fact that he resides in a position of strength for the Rangers (bullpen) and at this point they'd be better off trading him for someone that could remedy the offensive woes.
And I wouldn't' stop there, either. I think they need 2 bats.

@Buster_ESPN: The White Sox are telling other teams they're going to keep Peavy and build around him.
@Ken_Rosenthal: #Athletics off Peavy, moving onto other pursuits - bullpen, middle IFer. Will dangle some of players they would have traded for Peavy.

The CWS outlook going forward is bleak.

The Phillies are willing to listen to offers on any players except Domonic Brown, Chase Utley and Cole Hamels, according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com. That includes Cliff Lee, though general manager Ruben Amaro Jr.'s preference is to hang onto him, and he'd need to be blown away to move his ace left-hander.

Both the Yankees and Red Sox continue to show interest in Michael Young, and Salisbury writes that Jonathan Papelbon is "very much available" as well. He notes that the Tigers' interest in Papelbon had cooled even before their acquisition of Jose Veras on Monday, so there may no longer be a fit between the two sides.

Jeffrey Flanagan of FOX Sports Kansas City examines the roadblocks that would get in the way of the Royals acquiring Howie Kendrick or Erick Aybar from the Angels. Both members of the Halos' double-play tandem are reportedly on the market, and either could fill the Royals' gap at second base. However, the prospect price tag and salary implications are difficult to overcome, Flanagan notes.

The asking price on Jeff Samardzija is "higher than the Sears Tower," according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. The Cubs are essentially asking that teams let them take what they want from their farm systems. While the Diamondbacks have shown interest, several other teams have made offers as well.

The White Sox are seriously ran by Al Davis' corpse.
Bunch of fricking idiots.
They ask for basically an entire farm system for a #3 caliber pitcher and one of the most injury prone pitchers in the game.
Everyone tells them to frick off, "we're gonna keep him now and build around him".

Peavy is not a three. He is better than that. Their management seems pretty confusing though.

No way, those days are behind him.

3.37 era 194 strikeouts in 204 innings last year pitching in AL. Guy can still bring it but he has been nicked up at times this year
Posted on 7/30/13 at 9:27 am to UltimateHog
He could be the "ace" on Baltimore or Oakland.
Posted on 7/30/13 at 9:28 am to tduecen
4.92 ERA in 111 innings year before, 463 year before that.
4.32 this year.
Again, he's not worth it, not a #2 pitcher anymore.

quote:I love this. I like Samardzija, but if someone comes along and gives the Cubs the world for him, by all means take it. TAKE IT! They are telling teams that if they want Samardzija, then they (the other team) needs to let the Cubs have whatever they want to choose from in the other team's farm system. That's so fricking awesome.

Doubt that, he'd be behind Chen and Feldman at Baltimore and definitely behind Parker at Oaktown.

He was better than Parker last year and he's better than him again this year.
