Ohtani has played the whole year and the Angels are a generationally bad A’s team away from being in last place.

if the rangers have been able to win with seager missing significant portions of the season while the angels have been losing with ohtani playing the entire season, maybe the "seager has elevated the rangers" talking point falls flat due to baseball being a team sport with records that largely reflect the quality of the team you are on?

If Ohtani’s stats aren’t valuable to the success of his team, how valuable are they?

how can seagers stats be valuable to his team when they win without him?

So the Rangers are better off without him?

We both know that answer.

Lots of important ball left to be played. Seager will get plenty of crucial situations to prove his case.

Ohtani has already peaked on the year, imo, and definitely is the front runner… but it’s closer than you’re probably willing to admit.

Depends on who they would have gotten in return.

Theres no way Ohtani doesn’t win MVP by a landslide

The race for 2nd between Tucker and Seager will be what’s fun to pay attention to down the stretch. There’s a group of others that could make a case too with a scorching September

And even as an Astros fan I’ll admit had Seager been healthy and played like this all season it wouldn’t even be a debate for 2nd

no conceivable way a self professed fat neck beard would come to this conclusion when his club who essentially determines the luxury tax can barely lead their own division while outspending every other club by 100 mil a year

I’m not digging into his pitching just at the moment, since I assume we are trying to do apples to apples as hitters.

Why should I?

His pitching is good, but not enough to stand on its own as MVP.

His hitting could stand on its own.
