The Mariners have won 13 in a row and are still 10 games back in the division.

Was Matt Carpenter injured the last few years or what has caused his insane turnaround in every batting category

Hurt, his swing was out of whack due to injury, never found a rhythm

This is going to be a Miguel Cabrera to Detroit type trade for some franchise. Would be a candidate to be the next player to get to 3,000 hits if he didn’t walk so much (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing).

Both NY teams, SFG, and Seattle seem like possible destinations. I could see Boston doing it too, but idk their money situation.

Mikolas is good but we have hardly any power. Couldn’t put together any rallies, plus the backend of our rotation is garbage. Hoffman still sucks.

He wasn't hurt. He just sucked. He changed his swing this year.

I would be absolutely shocked. Boston has the money, but is hesitant to spend it on their own homegrown talent that's due. Bloom's main interest right now is bolstering the farm, he's not going to mortgage that for a guy who is going to demand more money than Devers - which we aren't even sure if Henry/FSG are going to pay.

According to Carpenter when he hurt his back in 2019 he altered his swing as he initially tried to play through it causing some bad habits that he didn't break

Yeah conventional wisdom definitely says that’s not how they want to build the team, but you can say the same for the Giants and their best writers have consistently said if it’s for a guy like Soto (this good, this young) the calculus changes. We know Boston is capable, just not sure if they are willing.

Seattle makes a ton of sense. They have invested in big free agents before, have a young team on rookie deals (and some cheap/cheapish vets), and prospects to do it. Kelenic+ another big prospect and some middle tier guys/mlb players might get it done because the league knows the Nats can’t do what the Rockies did with Story and just let Soto walk.
