Royals, Zach Greinke wins 25 games.
this
nah he won't win that many. i was boldly picking the royals to be the big surprise team last year and they failed me. however my touting of zack greinke was legit and he is just a stud. hopefully, the royals can be the surprise this year.

The Royals don't have enough offense to make this happen. I love Greinke though.
I agree with all that. Plus the beginning of the year Greinke had last year ain't happening again. That was unhuman.

So because they finished ahead of Seattle last year makes them contenders this year?
you said they werent a threat
how are u not a threat when u return the same team(plus healthy players)?

I got the Nats
They had most of this last year, and did nothing. I expect them to rise a bit for a few years, make the postseason, and then have all their big players leave to go to bigger teams... Exactly like the Rays.

I'm still on the D-Back bandwagon with that trio of Webb (who's throwing well in camp), Haren and Jackson.
Reynolds and Upton might be the best middle of the order pair in the NL West.

The Cleveland talk is funny...I like em', and fully expect them to finish in the cellar of the division, maybe the AL, and maybe all of the MLB.
That being said...
it wouldn't surprise me to see the White Sox maybe make a run in the Central and get into postseason play. I don't think it's out of the realm for a team like Colorado to go crazy and win the NL. And the Pirates could flirt with .500 and get the fans hopes up that the disaster string of losing seasons could end.

Exactly like the Rays.

Lastly, I don't think a good offense and a pitching staff with questions is the formula for MLB. Vladimir dropped way off kind makes me wonder about him and steroids to see him drop so quickly. I don't expect much from him really. There is a reason nobody really went after him. As I said I do not see much in the Rangers this season.
The Rangers team is very young. Historically, talented young pitchers (or batters) are tough to predict because no one can predict when they will have breakout seasons. Also, it's never a bad thing when a team has 7 pitchers competing for 2 rotation spot like the Rangers do. That is indicative of at least a decent rotation. Plus, with Neftali Feliz more than likely staying a reliever, the Rangers' bullpen should be nasty.
Vlad's drop-off definitely is a concern, but moving him to DH may help him stay healthy and moving to the Rangers' ballpark may result in better batting numbers. He's still an imposing hitter and a definite improvement over Hank Blalock.
Lastly, how can you predict the Rangers will not be competitive this year? Last time I checked, CHONE has Texas winning the division and the Mariners in last place. I'm not predicting that Texas wins the West or that the Mariners finish last, but I also don't think the Mariners or Angels are significantly better than Texas like you are suggesting.

You answered your own question basically. If you are returning the same team and the other teams in your division make improvements to their roster you may be in trouble. Your best pick up was taking what the Angels did not want anymore. I still would guess the West will end with Angels winning Mariners, Rangers and A's.

i agree, they have a great staff and a pretty good lineup

their staff is young, they are going to improve, which in turn will add more wins.
josh hamilton was hurt most of last year.
Vladdy will DH and he owns that park
Elvis andrus is a year older
they;ve added rich harden
their bullpen is solid
thats a solid club. They have a better chance to reach last years win total than SEA does
SEA lineup is one of the top 5 worst in the league on paper. they better hope Milton Bradley shows up or they are really fricked. I dont care how good Lee and Felix are.

One of the top 5 worst you say? Top 5 worst? Haha how about just 5 worst. Okay do you pick up vlad who has dropped off the planet. The angels had no desire to keep him and the rest of the league did not really care
much. But because he did a great job of hitting Rangers pitching he will be good there all of a sudden. Keep your hopes up. I will take pitching anyday. So you keep
thinking about our top 5 worst lineup but if you have dominant pitchers they usually win over good bats in a series.

Solid bump.
I picked the Rangers to win the AL West in the pool I'm in.
But I also picked the Tigers to win the AL Central. Whoops.

Lolz, interesting to read everything and see how it all panned out...

I nailed the Rays and Rangers... whiffed horribly on the D-backs.

In this thread, I said the giants would make the playoffs and that Kansas city would finish ahead of Cleveland after sprint was pimping them.
I also said that the rangers would win their division, but that wasn't a stretch.

Cleveland
and
Florida (only included because many do not see them as finishing #2 in NL East)
Arizona also after finishing last in NL West could actually win it this year.
Where's Waldo after his genius predictions?
