Yeah, we got a solid young bullpen arm for our 4th outfielder and a #11 prospect. Very good trade.

I didn't even think we'd get that for Grich.

Grichuk had plenty to opportunities to seize one of the OF spots. He never did that. Bader and Garcia can play anywhere in OF, and O’Neil has every bit the same power. Leone should be a nice 6th or 7th inning reliever. Maybe Grichuk finally turns the corner in Toronto, but I doubt it. I won’t miss him always swinging at pitches in the dirt.

Bader and O’Neill had more swing and miss in the minors than grichuk did yes?

Well that's what happens when you hit 26 years old and still get demoted down to Double A and Triple A. Or when you hit .238 with a .285 OBP and 133 K's in 400 AB's.

Yeah, I'm highest on O'Neil myself. 31 bombs at Triple A last year at 22 years old. Passed Grichuk really quick in the org.

They strikeout about the same rate, though Bader did hit .280 at AA and AAA (something that Grichuk never did). I doubt O’Neil will be any better than Grichuk. But I think Bader will be an upgrade. Bader had a .350 OBP at Memphis when Grichuk never came close to that. I was impressed how fast Bader was when he was called up. He was barely out on a routine ground ball. And flew home safe on a shallow fly ball for the game ending run in his debut.

He was sent all the way down to Palm Beach briefly. I agree, his continued poor average and OBP suggests it is time to move on when there are better options in my view.

You are higher on O’Neil than I am. He has the same low average/OBP and lots of power that Grichuk does. He’s just 22, so he has plenty of time to prove himself.

Yep, Grichuk never hit more than 25 HR's in the minors and O'Neill has already had 31 and 32 HR seasons and he's still just 22.

You know as well as I do how awful the team is on the bases. I think Bader will help create more runs. I saw Mercado here, so he and Arozerena are names to keep an eye on as well. And Oquendo is back on staff, and McGee should help as well. Did you go to Caravan last week?

Oh for sure, should be much much better this year on the bases, Oquendo will be a big factor I think. I'd like to see Pham swipe 30 bases.

No I didn't go to the caravan.

After reading about Ozuna, Castro, Yellich, and Stanton I would expect all of them dislike the Marlins and Jeter

MLB Offseason Thread: Molina/Contreras beefquote:They had a solid roster in 2015, let a ton of talent leave, and never replaced them anyone anywhere near as credible. They let Pedro Alvarez go for John Jaso They let Neil Walker go for Josh Harrison those were the only two position players they replaced from the 2015 team AJ Burnett retired JA Happ signed with Toronto Charlie Morton signed with Houston they replaced them with John Niese, James Tallison and Ryan Vogelsong

Josh Harrison can play a plethora of positions. They could have certainly kept both he and Neil walker.

Yes, AJ retired. However, nobody of equal value was brought in.

Jameson Taillon was in our system. He wasn't taking up much salary. We could have promoted him to the majors and brought in an adequate free agent replacement after AJ left.

I didn’t go either. I’m surprised there is no interest in Moustakas.

there are NFL teams who'd rather have Trevor siemian and the like start at qb instead of kaepernick all because they don't like his political views. Seems like a wash

Puh-lease.

Kaepernick is just one guy.

Although he does have the talent to be on any NFL roster he is borderline starting caliber.

Plus, he opted out of his contract with the 49ers.

There’s “buzz” that the Brewers are closing in on a trade, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN reports. Crasnick doesn’t offer any details about a potential trade partner or players involved, though he notes that the Brewers have been discussing outfielders with multiple teams (Twitter link).
