Just saw THIS about Jonathan Gray testing positive for some banned Adderall stimulant.
There is no penalty for predraft drug screening failures, and he does have a condition warranting the substance. However, he doesn't have a prescription. The lack of a prescription may be the rub, here. This could just be nothing at all. Anyway, it's a slow news day.

which is why i think they take him. This kind of takes away his threat to go back to college becuase even if he lost 1mph on his fastball folks would stay away next year, so i think astros can get him under slot so they don't have to do something extreme to ahve money in later rounds by taking moran.

pissed we're on this win streak, I wanted 3 number 1 picks and the hopes we finally grab a superstar like rodon from NC state next year!
damn you astros! you win the most meaningless games

What's exciting is that the Cubs will get a prospect that they could possibly see, albeit maybe a small possibility, this year. No need to rush, but if the Cubs can deal Garza and Feldman or Wood and draft Appel, we might see him sooner rather than later.

Let's be honest. They'll still finish with the #2 pick. ....and with the way the Marlins just don't give a frick about their baseball team, it wouldn't be a complete shock that the passed on Rondon.

Exactly. Hopefully we get Appel (really can't see it working out any other way) and he'll be up to the big club soon. I think we'll hold onto Wood since he's got a good contract, but yea, garza and feldman likely gone leaves him an opening for september (i'd be ok waiting if we could).
It wouldn't surprise me if the cubs went with a pitcher in 3 of the first 4 rounds. We've got to get some depth on the farm.
Also, thanks astro fans for not getting bent out of shape about cubs talk in your thread.

Doesn't matter, once they get to the bigs and have a year of success the Stros will trade him

They haven't been bad long enough to show a pattern of developing talent and then trading it. That certainly hasn't happened in recent history.
Just another idiot Braves/SEC ranter who can only flame.

I understand that. I just want to know the "accuracy" of this idiot's flame.
I guess the Astros should have kept Wandy, Carlos, Jed, and Roy because the team was obviously going in the right direction.

I'm not trying to start shite, but what if they take moran for under slot and then have money later in the draft to overslot sign?
I think you take gray for a tick under slot.

But wasting money means you are trying to win and aren't compromising the integrity of the game!! 64 wins is sooooooo much better than 56!!

I don't think the draft is considered to be as deep as last year, so it may not be as much of a help this time around.
