Officiating has probably not grown worse, we just get to see the very sharp, slowed down replays a lot now. I have no idea what the excuse is for the shitshow that is official replay review.

What significant advancement has occurred in video review, television broadcasting technology, or viewer review capability over the past year?
People who love the smell of their own farts try to make this argument as if we have no other years to compare it to. We’ve had the capabilities you mentioned, and officiating is still awful and likely influenced by gambling.
Officials aren’t infallible, saints, or even seemingly closely monitored. As humans we are greedy, to pretend that in no sport in the world do officials allow personal gain to creep in is hilarious

The problem is the freaking army of refs out there looking for any reason to throw a flag.
I watched about 1/2 of Super Bowl XXIII last night and I don’t remember seeing a single flag. It was glorious.
