It's about time.

He could probably sue the shite out of them if it wasn't paid leave, since he was the that reported the incident.

The AD who was been arrested is on administrative leave, the VP(also arrested) was allowed to retire, and the school president has only been removed from that position (he has the option of returning to his choice of two colleges).

This was expected. It'll be easier to protect him.

Sounds like a lot of people were asked, or paid, to keep quiet on this and now the university is trying to figure out a way to part ways with them without having them spill all the details.

He should be instantly dismissed with everyone else, IMO.

I am sure PSU wants to keep their future lawsuits down to a manageable number.

If Penn State really wants to get this mess behind them, they need to be open about everything and stop trying to keep things hidden. Normally I'd say it's about damage control, but this isn't one of those situations.

It's precisely that situation; this could bankrupt them.

They don't care about any of that stuff, they care about judgments, court costs and millions of dollars gone.

Universities don't grow money on trees; this is now a faltering corporation trying to survive.

Their civil liability and finances preclude them from cleaning house with disregard for employment law and future civil suits from the victims preclude them from opening up. This is big business with a balance sheet; they can't afford to just write people checks.

quick question, because i'm not sure how the law applies, but if he's protected under the whistleblower act, but they release him because they feel he failed to do enough, morally speaking, how does he have a lawsuit? Legally speaking, he did enough, but not morally.

some srt of ethics has to be inplace that this would fall under.

Just a question to get the info. Dont blow me up.

It's probably going to be better for them if they clean everything up now instead of having more come out later on.

They cannot fire him because of the whistleblower statutes. His contract will be not be renewed. I'm just shocked this took until Thursday night.

They just won't renew his contract. They will have a new HC (or no football program) within weeks, so it will all be moot anyway - he's never coaching again and he'll be paid through the end of the contract, whether that's December 31, 2011 or (some places take it through recruiting season) whenever.
