8-34 in conference play at Tulane.

Tulane is a difficult place to win at.

Last year they lost @ Houston 73-42. It'll probably be worse than that.

Andy or Billy Kennedy are perfectly cromulent hires for Tulane. They ain't nothing special as coaches but it's Tulane

I’d settle for Johnny Jones. He could probably lead us to 5 or 6 wins

was excited to get a new AD after years of incompetence from Rick Dickson but it appears that Dannen is not any better.
maybe just maybe the AD isn't the problem...

Well, they got a new president at the same time as the new AD.

Cowen was a huge problem. That’s not even up for debate

I would say as a whole Dannen has done okay.

He made the correct hire to get Tulane football out of the dumps and finally trending upward. This was priority #1

College Baseball is a niche sport and although the good times will be missed, Football is 100x more important.

He fricked up with Mike Dunleavy but honestly the hire didn’t seem terrible at the time, and how tf are you supposed to get a good coach at Tulane? Use some of that Jewish money to invest in better facilities and a D1 caliber arena.

Yeah but it's one that Tulane can reasonably compete at on a national level. Days of being the top seed in the tournament are done but they can get to regionals regularly.

Sure there's a case to be made that he's done a good job simply by getting the football team in a bowl game, 7 win season. I get that and he deserves a lot of credit for hiring Fritz and the success they had this year.
I understand that, but as hard as it may be to get a Cure bowl victory at Tulane, its still the Cure Bowl. You don't get that much goodwill from it.
And the goodwill he got from that is kind of erased when you look at what the basketball program has done since he took over. And the baseball program too. It may be a niche sport, but Tulane fans care about baseball. They care about it more than basketball

Making a bad hire is one thing, it's the lack of foresight to cut your losses after year 3 when your team is 5-25 that is really troubling.

I don’t really look at the Cure bowl victory as a pinnacle of what Tulane can achieve either. It does show the program is building something though, that’s all I can ask right now with this roster. No one is burning their house down after a bowl win against UL Lafayette but I sure will take it over going 2-10. The one thing I don’t understand is what Troy is waiting on with the basketball program and Mike Dunleavy. We may not win another fricking game this year, it’s time to relieve him of his duties. If those two sports are winning I could live with a halfass baseball team honestly.

Right, sticking with Dunleavy just feels like same old Tulane to me and that’s what is really upsetting. Sticking with a failing coach for far too long is something we’ve seen from Scelfo to Conroy.

I could look past a bad baseball team if basketball were good or vice versa, which seems more realistic. When basketball is coming in last place and baseball is coming off an 8th place finish, that’s a real problem

Small schools shitting on college baseball is dumb. Hell, Coastal Carolina won the national title just two seasons ago. The playoffs have essentially destroyed any path to greatness for a non-power five school in football and basketball success is extremely hard to sustain. Why not throw some money at a good baseball coach and give the alumni something to be proud of ?
