"They aren't attractive to bigger conferences."

The academics side is what is going to keep them out of a P5 conference. They (Boise) were a JUCO until the late 60's if my memory serves.

It's probably an okay school, but they were JUCO only until recently, and they don't perform any significant research.

its a completely different discussion and has nothing to do with the Big 12 getting 3 byes. Big 12 schools schedule rent a wins as well. Let' stop clouding the issue. No school should be allowed 3 byes when others are allowed 2.

Imagine if the NFC South got 2 byes and the rest of the NFL didnt.

Schools from conferences without a conference championship game have always gotten one more bye week than conferences with a CCG, that's nothing new. The CCG conferences choose to have one less bye week because of greed.

Yeah, I think CSU should be a top priority.

Colorado St also just announced they are building a brand new 40,000 seat on campus stadium. They have the student body, alumni and facilites to support a move into the P5. I think it should be Cincinnati and either BYU, Colorado St. I'm just not sold on Memphis.

New Mexico is a better get for the Big XII than Cincinatti.

New Mexico has ties, natural rivalries, good overall sports.

Cincinatti as I said earlier is the step sister, nobody really wants them.

Honest question, what does UNM offer athletically other than a decent basketball program? Cincinnati still trumps them there.

Btw, I agree with all your other points about them being a better fit.

They are solid in Soccer, baseball, and have complete olympic sport program. Also they are a school that wont jeopardize the traditional powers and giving another market and more revenue from said market.

You just explained why he's such a good coach. Now go look at his resume again.

If they could get BYU and CSU, I think that would be fantastic for the conference.

The Memphis program has a relatively high ceiling compared to most expansion candidates. Problem is that Tennessee has been giving them the UAB treatment for almost a century. Refusing to invest in the public university in what was for the better part of the last century the LARGEST and MOST PROSPEROUS city in the state. The boys in Nashville and Knoxville never saw the point.

UofM has been trapped in SEC territory for far too long. A BIG 12 invite would shake things up in the state of Tennessee, and not just for athletics.

Plus they have something those other schools can't offer. Fedex.

When they were planning on moving to the Big East Fedex played an enormous part in that move.

You don't think the Big 12 doesn't like the idea of the "Fedex Big 12 championship game."?

Here's how it works: the University of Tennessee has it's own board of regents where it allocates approximately 95% of the state funding for it's own system, and UofM is lumped in with every other state, tech, and po dunk community college from Dyersburg to Gatlinburg. It's a wonder there is any meaningful research going on at all considering what they have to work with.

Memphis, the home of St. Jude... has no medical school. But UT put their fricking dental school smack dab in the middle of crosstown like a giant FU to the city. No med school = brain drain = city full of dumb people. But that's okay with the boys in Nashville.

I so want this to happen. I want Ole Miss and every other SEC school (aside from LSU) shut out of the Memphis area for recruiting purposes.

Here are the renderings for Colorado State's new football stadium. Really nice!

That stadium being in the center of campus is important for getting students involved...it surely beats this dump in the middle of nowhere.
