FM got hit with a solid uppercut early and had CM known how to put more weight behind it this fight might have ended there. You could see that FM knew he'd made a mistake that he didn't make the rest of the bout.

To people who don't know the sports, I agree. Boxing ismore enjoyable for spectators to watch unless the MMA guys are throwing haymalers. I still think its a lesser sport compared to MMA, though.

mayweather hasn't had a " great fight" in over a decade.
Sept. 16 will be a great fight. Canelo vs ggg.

You idiots don't even realize Mayweather tore apart that same Canelo you are now praising.

Made him look like an amateur.

I don't.

Just like you don't appreciate technical boxing.

Floyd wouldn't do any better in the cage than Conor did in the ring.

Difference is one actually went out of his discipline to face one of the greats in his.

The fact that there are people who can't respect that because he's a loud-mouthed MMA guy is hilarious.

Floyd is the only one that fights so defensively

most HWs since Lennox Lewis fight with the same strategy

there are numerous boxers that are fun and exciting to watch.

yes and they get punished by the scoring when they fight someone like floyd, b/c boxing would rather reward risk-avoidance rather than rational aggression

So if one guy presses forward and throws 30 punches a round but lands 8 of them is about 25% yet the opponent throws 15 but connects on 10-12 each round.

I'll give it to the opponent each time.

depends on the power/contact of the hits

Or you can judge the fight as a whole like pride in Japan used to do.

you mean like my post earlier in the thread where I said Mayweather makes even the most aggressive boxers not throw punches and mentioned Canelo by name?

Grappling is awesome

I just learned a good quarter guard escape that can also be used as a sweep from a machado jiu jitsu black belt.

Demian Maia used this same sweep against Gunnar Nelson

Definitely was entertaining. Conor did a lot better than I thought he would. The ref made the right call ending it there, Conor wasn't even able to defend himself at that point.

i appreciate technical boxing, but i also recognize when a sport is rewarding risk-avoidance and not aggression

i dunno why you brought up MMA when i've made the same argument re: UFC many times before over the years

I'd like to see Mayweather fight the Australian that "beat" Manny Paq.

Floyd needs to retire. He wasn't himself tonight. He fights an actual boxer in his prime he could get embarrassed.

Sure, and there are way more rules in boxing than in MMA.

How are people saying boxing is dead? If boxing is dead, how did they both just walk away with 9 figure paychecks? If money is flowing the sport isn't dead.

Because there have been no decent sports in 5 months. We are hungry for action
