Why do people get angry when Floyd fights a flawless tactical match and wins easily? The guy fights within the construct of the boxing rules and dominates. Yet just because it isn't the way people want to see a fight go, he sucks.
I'm not mad. Just pointing out to people who don't understand combat sports that boxing allows fighters to pace themselves, MMA does not.

onnor only landed 26% of punches I know the optics looked good to casual boxing fans, but he got killed man
I know what the optics were, but Floyd didn't win 2 of the first 3 rounds.
You don't win a round without landing punches. Who cares if Connor's percentage was low? If he landed more punches in those rounds, by and large, he wins the round. The ratio doesn't matter.

because other than being boring, it's basically a style that found edges in the flaws of boxing scoring 20 years ago and now the scoring has been molded into rewarding it.
So mayweather is the only boxer who knows how fights are scored?

There is no doubt that they agreed that the fight didn't end with McGergor on his back.
That's the only explanation for Floyd not killing him.
i don't know if floyd has the power to knock him out
well unless the ref let the fight go on about a minute longer

I'd like to see Mayweather fight the Australian that "beat" Manny Paq.

Floyd knew MMA is total bullshite, nobody can last past 4 rounds compared to boxing...their aeorobic sucks.
Floyd is a boxer, Conor is a fighter. This fight didn't prove anything other than that.
Floyd wouldn't do any better in the cage than Conor did in the ring.

With his PPV shares , Conor will make out with over 100M , mayweather with over 200M

It is. But the majority of those were in the first 3 rounds and frankly, FM was letting him punch himself out by design.
I know, but he does the same thing with a lot of boxers and they don't come anywhere near 26% efficiency.

Why are so many of you bitching about the ending? That's how almost every mma fight ends
Also, those ropes were the only thing keeping him up at the end.

no i said earlier this style is worse in the HW division and has killed it as a national sport
boxing is a spectacle sport these days. it can get a huge event like tonight, but it has no consistency whatsoever b/c of its structure (not just scoring)

McGregor did much better than I expected.
Yep. I'm not sure Mayweather had lost 4 rounds in his entire career combined. Mayweather knew what he was doing, but McGregor made the fight more entertaining than I was expecting

May did exactly what I thought he would. Let mcgregor get tired and then beat his fricking arse. It was a good stoppage by the ref because mayweather could he really hurt him bad. Props to mcgregor though, but floud would have knocked him out and possibly hurt him really bad if they continued for another round even.

boxing, like all sports, evolved into too defensive of a sport. in turn, it's begun to reward minimizing mistakes rather than rewarding positive action. it may be the one major American sport not to correct this unattractive momentum and that's a big reason why it's dying
Floyd is the only one that fights so defensively because early in his career he perfected the shoulder roll and became the best counter puncher in modern boxing. you can't watch Floyd fight and then act like all boxing is that being because it isnt. there are numerous boxers that are fun and exciting to watch.

well that's b/c you are either insecure with your heterosexuality or don't appreciate grappling
however, UFC has similar issues that they sometimes address
UFC over-rewards wrestling/GNP

So if one guy presses forward and throws 30 punches a round but lands 8 of them is about 25% yet the opponent throws 15 but connects on 10-12 each round.
I'll give it to the opponent each time.
Or you can judge the fight as a whole like pride in Japan used to do.
