And they would rather have the guy who calls them out on a regular basis there?

Mark Cuban would probably teabag Stern every hour on the hour for 3 months if the Mavericks won an NBA Title.

A NBA referee could easily influence an NBA game especially if one of the premier bigs was playing (Shaq, Howard, Gasol, Bynum, Randolph, etc...)

You could call a foul on almost every inside post postioning or contested shot (either way). Only official in pro sports that could have more of an effect on a game would be the home plate ump in baseball IMO.

Yeah...they would rather have the Mavs. It's all about money dumbass. Stern would rather put up with Cuban if it meant he profited more from it, and had better tv ratings, etc, etc.
