Saw this on another forum and it's pretty interesting. Given this, what do ya'll think the chances are that the playoffs aren't influenced?

ESPN

quote:

DALLAS -- As far as Dallas conspiracy theories go, referee Danny Crawford working Mavericks playoff games ranks right up there with who shot J.R. Ewing.

Crawford is the lead official of the crew that will work Tuesday night's Game 2 in the Dallas Mavericks' first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers. That will make many Mavs fans cringe, given the franchise's miserable track record in playoff games worked by Crawford.

The Mavs have a 2-16 record in playoff games officiated by Crawford, including 16 losses in the last 17 games. Dallas is 48-41 in the rest of their playoff games during the ownership tenure of Mark Cuban, who has been fined millions of dollars in the last 11 years for publicly complaining about officiating.

basketball-reference

quote:

Yep, out of 10,000 simulations, Dallas ended up with a 2-16 record or worse...

5 times.

That's 0.05% of the time. Now, maybe the zombie corpse of Wyatt Earp is going to eat my brain for saying this... but given their point spreads, it seems like there's very little chance that Dallas' poor performance in Crawford-officiated games has happened due to random variation alone.

That's what happens when you foul the most offensively gifted power forward in history while he is in the process of shooting.

If his record is so bad when officiating for the Mavs than why does Stern insist on him being out there?

Don't have Crawford officiate Maverick playoff games. Period.

The Mavericks continuously get fricked over by the League. Gotta protect the Lakers/Spurs/Celtics and then all of the "big names". It's a damn shame.

When was the last time you heard anyone in or associated with the Spurs organization getting into trouble on or off the court? I rest my case.

Neither does Dallas.

However, Dallas has an owner with the balls to call out the NBA for it's bullshite.

Favorite part of the ESPN.com article is the very last sentence. The out of nowhere stat that Dallas is 4-14 against the spread in games Crawford refs.

I have seen one call go the mavs way so far. Aldridge can bulldoze people but Chandler can't set legal screens.

I do. Didn't say anything about crawford, just sayin. I will gladly take bad first half calls if we get them in the fourth ala game 1
