Which is why Rory being the gallery favorite over him says the “hate” is more of an internet troll phenomenon

He wasn't the favorite, they cheered for whoever did well

As usual, you're fabricating stuff and trying to pass it off as fact.

Sky sports, cbs, and masters radio all made the comment the patrons seems to be in favorite of Rory overall

Never once gave my opinion. I wasn’t there impossible for me to opine

The reaction to Rose's birdie on 18 shocked me. People went nuts.

If Rory was the obvious gallery favorite, explain this reaction from the gallery.

Spieth is up there IMO. He’s just not as good.

They absolutely cheer everyone on

I’m just quite literally posting what all three of the major broadcasts said: the crowd favored Rory

Pga tour radio had Wagner on this morning and he also reiterated from walking the course Rory was the clear favorite

Why the hell are you attacking me for just repeating what was said?

People at the Masters cheer good shots. It’s not your average tournament. People cheered when El Pato made his final putt against Kenny Perry in 09 despite cheers being louder for Perry all day.

People cheered Schwartzel when he made his birdie at 18 in 2011, but cheers were louder when both Luke Donald and Jason Day made their birdies at 18.

There are always favorites, but the Masters patrons still always tend to cheer good shots even when it comes from someone they don’t want to win.

Rory is a fan favorite, no doubt. But Bryson was also out of it by what? 7 or 8. The cheers for Bryson would have been like they were for Rory had they been in the opposite position. Anyone not trying to fabricate any argument for no reason understands this

They also would have been just as loud had Rose made his putt and ended up winning the playoff on a later hole.

About the only person you can count out as a fan favorite is Pat Reed

Absolutely Brysons support wavered due to him falling off

But, the comments from CBS directly were after hole 3 when Rory birdie and Immelman made the comment the cheers were louder for Rory than Brysons birdie and taking the lead on two

I beleive he even mentioned being surprised by it

This 100% is not true. I think we legitimately saw every Bryson shot outside of his tee shot on 14.

You believe the cheer would have been just as loud for rose winning the playoff as the moment we saw with Rory winning?

Exactly. It puts up a much bigger number if they aren’t forced to play in the morning.

It would have been pretty fricking loud, and you have no way to argue it definitively would or wouldn't be. As usual, it is hilarious to me that you think you are speaking as the point of authority on something that is 100% subjective and cannot be proven.

They wouldn’t have been just as loud. According to everyone I’ve talked to that was there, and from what I heard on TV Rory was the favorite. Bryson was slightly behind. Rose was pretty clear behind both of them, but Masters patrons always celebrate good shots, especially on 18.

Reed wasn’t cheered like normal on 17, but also at that same time, they were changing Rory’s score so most people were looking up at the big scoreboard instead of watching his shot go in.

At the US Open or PGA, Bryson would have been the favorite. The Masters is a slightly different fan base and there’s a different history with Rory.

Fwiw, people were not cheering for Rory in 2011. People were excited when he was dropping on the leaderboard originally, and then it went to groans the worse and worse it got.

Similar (to a lesser extent) about Sergio’s experience where people had not rooted for him but in 2017, people wanted to see him get his major. Wouldn’t happen at any other US Major, but still happened at the Masters.

What we saw of Bryson on the main broadcast just from memory:

9: bomb drive, good second shot, missed putt
10: good drive, second shot
11: good drive, 2nd in the water, pitch from drop, putt that never came close to the hole
12: tee shot
13: excellent drive, iron shot long into the bunker that plugged, good third from that lie, missed putt

Need I go on?

Yes, we can literally quote the broadcasters saying Rory was the fan favorite

Someone that makes him mad at us and we are the ones trying to interject opinions

Here is sky sports:

I’ll post the cbs quote as well

quote:

And Rich Beem and Wayne Riley discussed which player out of the two was getting more love from the spectators, during live coverage on Sky Sports in the UK:

Beem: “From what it sounds like the cheers are a bit more in Rory’s favour.“

Riley: “Absolutely.“

You're making the case for Rose being a huge fan favorite by bringing this up, especially considering he lost the playoff to Sergio. Rose winning would have been almost as special from a story line perspective as Rory finally finishing the slam.
