I mean he was a great boxer but what else? He was known for refusing enlistment, and converting to a Muslim....

Meh, I am too long to see him box since his peak was the 70's... however I saw Holyfield, Foreman, and Tyson

why do people shite on him for dodging the draft. He was right. Black leaders were getting shot and killed every month here in the united states, this was not long after bloody sunday

quote:

"My conscience won't let me go shoot my brother or some darker people or some poor, hungry people in the mud for big, powerful America. And shoot them for what? They never called me ****, they never lynched me, they didn't put no dogs on me, they didn't rob me of my nationality, rape and kill my mother and father. Shoot them for what? How can I shoot them poor people? Poor little black people and babies and children and women. How can I shoot them poor people? Just take me to jail." — Muhammad Ali

George W dodged the draft and you made him POTUS

Nope, what did Ali do that was so important?
He had a few great quotes, he won some fights, he dodged the draft, he became Muslim. Even once he had Parkinson's his most significant event was carrying the torch.

Not trying to start a flame war, but how old are you? If you grew up in the 60s, Ali was a social and political phenomena.

Yeah apart from the one thing that contributed to him being considered the best boxer ever, he hasn't done shite! If you take away all the time he was the greatest and a world icon, you really don't have anything!

Stop trolling.

I'm took young to remember in in his prime, and I never gave a shite about boxing, so I don't really get the appeal.

Again, I said Ali's peak was during the 70's when I was not alive. After the videos, footage, interviews, I've seen what makes him this person to be revered? He was a great fighter and that was it.

He beat boxers... would Mayweather be considered better? Will people mourn the same way?

You're oversimplifying it on purpose to try and prove your point. That's like saying , "What's the big deal about Napoleon? He fought some battles and what else?"

I am still waiting on an explanation.... I have yet to see that other than someone questions what I've typed.
