re: Manning not really breaking Drew's record should be a hot point of discussion

The passing yards record is almost a bad mark on the team because it indicates a one-dimensional offense constantly playing in close games or coming from behind.

They do stat adjustments all the time

they should have let him play the first drive of the second half to hit 5500
Manning should have played the entire 2nd half and hit 5800 yards just to stop shite like this.

Is this really worth an adjustment? If you examine all of Brees' 2011 forward passes, I'd bet you'd find at least one that was actually a lateral.

One dimensional? Brees crushed the record in 2011 where the saints were 6th in rushing...
that's shitty? I swear it was a horrible defense that was the reason why we lost.

Hell, I can't even believe it was seriously brought up for discussion.

That is skewed by the year of the QB in 2011 when 3 different players threw for over 5,000 yards and over 40 touchdowns while another 1 or 2 threw for 4,900 yards and 39 touchdowns. I think the strike-shortened off-season probably had something to do with that. That was the year Peyton missed due to his injury. I have wondered what gaudy stats he would have had that year, which seemed like a huge anomaly. I mean Matt Stafford had 5,000+ yards and 41 touchdowns, an MVP season any other year. Even Drew's 46 touchdowns that year were not enough for MVP since Rodgers threw 45 in 1 less game and with fewer interceptions and a record-breaking passer rating.
ok without that year he still avg 33.7

Peyton Manning could have shattered that worthless record if he wanted to. Instead, after throwing for 266 yards and 4 touchdowns in the first half, he and the organization decided it was best to sit him the second half so not to risk injury. His last pass of the first half, which happened to be a touchdown pass, broke the record. And that was it.
Besides, he didn't even play the first half to break the record. He played so he, and the rest of the starters, wouldn't be out for 2 consecutive weeks since they would have a first round bye. They wanted to end the season on a good note by dominating a team.
Saints fans are grasping at straws here.

I don't really care honestly. Manning could have shattered this little record if he wanted to.
I do find it amusing that the major complaints and push on this topic today seems to be coming from Saints and Patriots fans though.

I am hearing more about this through fantasy football fans more than anything.

Saints fans are doing nothing more than spreading the word that a New England fan shared with everyone. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a passing stat being adjusted after the fact, it happens all of the time. This is also one of those times that it should be adjusted.
Maybe you're a closet Peyton Manning forehead lover, and you can't help but come to his defense. Either way, you're wrong.

If it wasn't Brees' record, this topic wouldn't be longer than a page.

If Peyton would have played a single down in the second half, this wouldn't even be a topic.

That seems odd, considering there's a whopping total of a .28 adjustment for Manning in standard leagues and no impact for Decker. And the vast majority of fantasy leagues ended in week 16.

Well guess what, you're on a Louisiana based sports board with mostly populated by Louisiana sports fans. Do you think you're pointing out some ground breaking idea here or something? GFY, it's a topic here because it should be.

But he didn't.
Brees still holds the record.
