Link? Why should they have to anyway? If the PGA was making 10 billion a year in profit why does that matter?

I'd ask if you are really this stupid, but I already know the answer

Jim Nantz's interview with Manahan was priceless. He was asked, "Why, then, did the tour grant player releases to play in the Saudi International this past February, an Asian Tour event backed by the same group (Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund) that is behind Greg Norman's LIV series?"
Then this the double-talking nitwit's answer:

"The Saudi International was an individual event recognized by a sanctioned tour"

That's it? All the moral outrage of 9-11 in that Q and A and Jay bragging later in the same interview:

"I would ask any player that has left, or any player that would ever consider leaving, have you ever had to apologize for being a member of the PGA Tour?”

Why, yes, Jay, your professional relationship with the Saudi golf tournaments and regularly granting PGA player releases to play in their sponsored tournament, you and the players should now publically apologize.

What a hypocritical dipstick.

I don’t. But I’m not on the tour. If I was I would sure as hell want to see them. It’s their prerogative to not show them. But they shouldn’t complain when players act like free agents after they refuse to show the numbers.

They want to make more. Just like every other employed person.

this just isn’t true. Especially for independent contractors, like tour players. Even when there is an agreement to not compete in place they are very very difficult to enforce and they must be very narrowly tailored. I’ve litigated and lost more than once trying to enforce a non-compete.

Players can do the math. The latest TV contract was a 70% increase from the previous one. A PGA player "Where is my money" moment if there ever was one.

Clearly there is money somewhere considering they just added 200MM in purses. I find it so funny the posters saying the players don’t deserve to see the numbers then melt down when those players go to a different tour. Can you imagine being on Monohan’s side in this?

for new tournaments which means new tv contracts and tickets...and if they do what to spend a little more who cares. The players who left the PGA for LIV are the ones crying about wanting to be on both tours.

Because he has handled this entire thing very poorly. From beginning to end. It’s embarrassing to watch. Even more embarrassing to watch people who clearly were ignorant to the facts blindly back him.

Which they have now and the purses are much smaller. I appreciate you making my point for me.

Monohan invoked 9/11. Yeah, let’s pretend he isnt melting.

Leverage has changed.

Imagine all these years even the superstars couldn't command a simple appearance fee. The PGA Tour does not allow players to accept appearance fees, but in other countries, it is very common.

In the past, Tiger Woods used to command $2–3 million to play in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. In 2013, CBS Sports estimated that Tiger took home $8 million for playing in the Turkish Airlines Open ($3 million), the Abu Dhabi Championship ($3 million) and a one-on-one match with Rory McIlroy ($2 million). One year Tiger was offered a BMW in addition to his appearance fee to play overseas. He told them they would also need to give his caddie a BMW, so they did. Dustin Johnson reportedly turned down $2.5 million to play in Abu Dhabi in 2016, so they upped the offer to $3.5 million, which he accepted.

Jay Monahan and the PGA were ripe for the takin' and Greg Norman knew it.
