MLB is a joke!

Payrolls are out of control!

Certain team's gross revenue are LESS than other team's payrolls! Anyone can see this.

Can you provide a link?

Someone else posted the Pirates payroll was 66 million, they made 80+ in tickets and concessions and another 100 million from revenue sharing. Imagine if they were competitive how much more money they could make.

I’m not really arguing for either system, but over the past ten years, eight different teams have won the World Series, same exact as the Super Bowl.

The NFL's system is the best. It has a salary cap and a salary floor. The Lions are the Lions because of their own incompetence and not because their owners don't spend money.

Braves are pretty middle of the pack if not a little above

The were 4th in MLB revenue in '21 perhaps not that high in '22 but probably close.

NHL has the best system. Combined with nature of how the sport is and how there are many different ways to construct a team to win it makes it the most competitive.

You can't tell me right now who is going to win the Cup. You can't tell me at the start of the playoffs who is going to win the Cup.

That's competitive balance.

Revenue isn’t payroll though

Ya think? Wow,thanks for that clarification.

I was replying to the Braves being thought of as mid market team...which they CLEARLY aren't.

As for payroll in '21,they had the lowest payroll by a wide margin of the top 5 revenue teams in '21. I also realize they have all sorts of other costs related to Truist, the Battery and even their new spring training facility. Its a pretty complex/confusing
web of finances.

Personally, I hate all of them, especially MLB that is designed to punish large market teams with excessive taxation a draft capitol.

NFL hard cap is understandable and keeps things a little more competitive, until Aaron Rogers demands 40 million a year leaving limited funds to fill the rest of the roster. But lets not kid ourselves, the Lion, Browns, & Jets haven't challenged for a Super Bowl in decades. Still only certain teams can attract the big stars,

Football is the worst sport to have a hard cap though because of roster size and injuries.
