I'm not even gonna sift through all this shite...but I just want to make sure I am clear per XIV.

I grew up in South Texas, born and raised there, as in 20 years...and I moved to Louisiana for LSU...have attended school here a few years. I hope it's okay for me to like the Spurs...please?

You get the idea. The only reason I particularly dislike the Cowboys more than any other team is that they are force fed to us.

I agree with that 100%

I hate the damn Cowboys

Are they really Americas team? Or are they the medias team who wants us to believe its Americas team. I mean you have San Francisco and now Pittsburgh with more titles.

The title "Americas Team" has nothing to do with Superbowl rings.

So it has to do with the Star on the helmet and somehow that is supposed to reflect the star on the American flag?

I'm pretty sure "America's Team" refers to the huge fanbase across the country.

ETA: I don't like the Hornets or Saints and I lived in Louisiana for the first 28 years of my life.

I need a medal or a sanity test I guess since I went through all 12 pages...interesting to say the least.

If New Orleans was only like certain big cities...NY, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, etc. then maybe attaching ones self (if you were born and raised here) would be easier having NFL, NBA, and MLB (and NHL) teams to pull for.

As far as the NBA...casual observer over the decades, picked a team during the playoffs. Repeat process next year. When the Hornets came to town things changed but not at first. I didn't go ape shite or anything. They started to grow on me and that's who I have been pulling for seriously over the last several years. I go to several games a year, have bought plenty of merch and keep up with them everyday.

My loyalty toward teams are like this. Similar to a previous post...Louisiana First!

LSU Fan (first and foremost, born into it and a Tiger grad)
Saints Fan
Hornets Fan

Astros Fan

pretty much. This used to be the case as well as back in the day the Cowboys were the main team for the Armed Forces Network. A lot of soldiers and military families across the world got to watch several Cowboys games during the season, this had to do a lot with why the fan base ended up so spread out, then you had dudes like Roger Staubach that made them even more popular.

and

<---------doesn't really root against the Hornets or Saints unless they are playing the Cavs or Cowboys. I like to see them do good, they just don't happen to be my favorite team.

Born and raised BR and NO, but I'm a rockets fan. I moved to Houston the year before the Hornets arrived, and never watched NBA basketball until I got to Texas.

Never ever said that. WTF are you talking about? I love March Madness. This is why I hate the 6 rounds of best of 19 playoff games they do in the NBA.

12 pages and no BOOM?

Hornets and Saints fans are just alike.

Couldn't find either of them 3-4 years ago. Now i see saints and hornets shite everywhere i go. it makes me sick.

New Orleans fanbases for both franchises are the biggest pieces of front running shite i have ever seen.

I wouldn't say that. There are a shite ton of loyal Saints fans. I have been having the Saints/Cowboys argument with dudes since grade school, and through a lot of shitty Saints years, they still stayed loyal to them.

And as far as the Hornets go, I can understand getting behind them. Growing up in Louisiana I never had an NBA team, I usually pulled for individual players. Then when I moved to Cleveland I ended up attending several Cavs games and it made it easy for me to adopt them. I'm sure it's the same case with the Hornets fans and I'm glad Nola is getting behind the Hornets, there is no reason to hate on them because they didn't get there until 02. But at the same time, it's very fricking hypocritical to expect everyone from La to be pulling for them. I was out traveling the world when they got to N.O. and it's not really my city.

xiv, I am sure I am not the only one in this thread who has asked this, but why should I give two shits about a team that expanded from another state?

If anything, we should all be Jazz fans.

You must root for either the Spurs or Rockets. And you must pick a team and stick with them for life unless they move, in which case you are a free agent fan.

Well, you would have fired Brady after 2005 and maintain that choice today even knowing that we went to a Final Four the next year, so I don't expect you to say anything intelligent, ever. In fact, if I were to ever meet you, I would expect you to shite in your hand and throw it in my direction. I would not try to dodge the shite, though, since there's no way your shite-tossing would be accurate.

But in response to your post, Quebec fans root for the Avalanche, who used to be the Nordiques. That kind of pansy shite is fine for them, but not for real men like us.

xiv, despite the overall suckage of this thread, I will try to contribute a little. Those who are Hornets' fans now most likely dropped another team to root for them. I don't see how you can claim to be a true NBA fan then drop your old team because another team moved closer. It's not our fault that we root for other teams, rather Louisiana's for not being able to attract a team for decades.

Those who root for the Hornets now are/were either:

1. Casual NBA fans. They rooted for a team or teams while NOLA had no team, then made the switch when they did.

2. Charolette Hornets fans, and thus followed their support of them to their new convenient location.

3. Those with a ridiculous sense of state pride to where they feel obligated to root for the in state teams.

The NBA is not like LSU athletics or Louisianians. This franchise could be gone in a few years, and most likely, the players collectively couldn't give a frick if they played in Miami, Houston, Dallas, NOLA, or L.A.

You have outed yourself as either
a) not a sports fan at all
b) a woman
c) a retard

You just don't get it. Again, the rules on how to correctly be a sports fan are the psychic property of us real men everywhere. If you don't get it, you're a pansy. Plain and simple.

To call such pride ridiculous is a crime punishable by death. I would retract that statement if I were you.

The average Hornets player plays more years for the Hornets than the average LSU athlete plays his/her sport for LSU.
