Pirates have best NL record in ST

Posted by SwampDog225 on 3/6/09 at 9:39 am
A team's record in Spring Training means nothing at all, but seeing that the Pirates (6-2) are on top of the NL standings...that's something you won't see during the regular season...this season and many more to come.

The dribble through Terry's legs with the pass to Butler for the flush was the play of the game.

Bob Cousy use to be called "Houdini" or "The Houdini Of The Hardwood". CP3 is catchy but I would like if he was known by another nickname because of the style of ball he plays. I call him the "Magician" because he makes of the mass number of steals he gets (from your hand to his) and very often when he does his best taking it off the dribble...many players can't see where the ball is. Kinda reminds me at times of The Pistol.

He looks damn healthy out there for someone who "supposedly" failed a physical.

I'm definitely not a casual baseball fan but I can see that somewhat. He's "viewer friendly" and doesn't come off sounding like some arrogant arse like other talking heads do.

Went to the arse kicking tonight. :spank: I really like it when we beat the Mavs. Very nice run the Hornets are on. 6-0 since Tyson returned which matches their season-high win streak.

The play of the night had to be when CP dribbled through Jason Terry’s legs then to Butler for the flush. The behind the back pass to Posey was sweet too. This team has been playing very well as of late. Going for #7 Sat night against Okla City.

Hampton didn't start out too good...hit the first batter then walked the next 2 but ended up pitching 2 scoreless innings and no injury...great news. Ortiz might work his way in the rotation seeing he looked good today as well. Overall pitching seemed good except for Graves.

Also some nice contributions from the young guys...Drew Sutton (2 singles), Towles (single), Chris Johnson (HR), Saccomano (triple), Manzella (single).

Stros take on the Braves tomorrow at Disney at 12:05 pm CT on ESPN as Oswalt takes the mound.

What was the crowd's reaction when they introduced A-Roid?
According to the "breaking news" earlier by ESPN (what a joke) the reporter said that it was mixed with boos and cheers. Even though the game was in Dunedin (Blue Jays park) which is not that far from Tampa...Yankeee fans still outnumbered the Blue Jays. Since the Yankees train in Tampa that's understandable.

These are just teasers anyway, the real test will be when the season starts...home and away. I'm expecting ESPN and later FOX to interupt the game in progress to announce that the crowd had more boos than cheers (and vice versa) and will have live fan interviews during the game about A-Roid and then an in-game poll about him, etc. I'm sure the situation will be overblown.

I've had the regular and premium MLB.TV before I ordered the MLB package on Cox but the fact you can log on from anywhere to catch a game is great.

Parks I've been to...

Astrodome
MMP
Turner Field
Yankee Stadium
Making an early run to Houston this year, never been to a game with the roof open.

Friday (April 17) and Saturday (April 18) vs Reds.

Then another trip later during the summer, just not sure when.
