Most of their best runners were sophomores IIRC.
Apparently that's where they took the biggest hit. I just asked him to confirm the story, and he said I had it right. He said Stafford (Cole? I want to say I remember that name) and the distance team will be carrying them this year.

Yeah all those cross country guys will tear up the distance runs. Stafford is a beast.

I don't. Everyone I know that still goes there hates it this year.
Everyone I know who still goes there starts bitching about the new disciplinarian as soon as I ask them about CHS.

Yeah thats what they complain about
I got out right in time. We though Kelly was a bad disciplinarian but apparently its much worse now.

From what I've heard he's breaking records for kids getting kicked out in one school year.
One day I'm going to start a "reminince about CHS" thread on the OT. There's so many Bears on there it'll be great to hear all the stories.

Anyone know if individual state champs get a ring or just team champs?
I think that's up to the individual team/school/coach. My junior year individual winners on my team got jackets.
We won D II (team) State my senior year and got rings. I won Individually the same year, got a paper certificate from LHSAA and got a trophy from the school. Didn't get a freakin' jacket--Damn coach!

Roman Gibbons was a lame match. I have seen them wrestle several times, and Roman basically tries not to get pinned, which i guess is smart from a team point of view.
Gibbons is dominant. It isn't intimidation, he is just a lot better than all the instate competition.

Just looked it up. Apparently they're going for their 6th straight indoor state title this weekend, and their 5th straight outdoor state title later this year.
Unbelievable.
This run coincided with the fall of West Monroe's program. Catholic has stepped it up in the last 5 years, but they really have had no competition. They are the ONLY team that has brought a real team the last few years(winning by scores of 100-35).
Second place teams have just been schools who happen to have a couple of individuals who scored a few points by themselves. In other words, if all the non-Catholic High athletes in the state were randomly distributed to high schools but kept their current coaching, the second place team would have been just as close to Catholic.

Yes, he has a couple of nationally ranked track stars, but when your second string relay teams could qualify for the state meet, you know you're having to really develop some outstanding athletes or otherwise you wouldn't have depth like that.
Well if that was in any way true, it would be very impressive.

Who is the new disciplinarian? What's his name?

Isn't Gibbons the best wrestler in the state?
Yes, and it's not close.
He's arguably the best wrestler in Louisiana history. He's not flashy, but he's incredibly efficient and technically sound.

Division I
1. Brother Martin 283.0
2. Catholic BR 279.0
Which means it literally came down to one finals match.
Klein, the BM freshman, won it for the team. If he doesn't upset Capella (Jesuit) in the Finals, it's a split title.

Was this a down year for Jesuit, or is their wrestling program going downhill?

Downhill. Bm is gonna reign supreme again

It's going to be BM and Catholic for awhile with Rummel and Jesuit making noise every year.
Robbie isn't going to run through the State like he did 1998-2002. That was just a really good set of circumstances for BM.
Jesuit has a new coach this year and lost a lot of seniors off of last year's team. I'd give it a couple more years before saying they're going downhill.

Spencer Harris was a 3-time state champion. I guess great athletes dont always make great coaches? Jesuit hasn't finished worse than 2nd place in 35 years. If this 4th place bullshite continues, Harris' coaching career there may be a short one
